In "Awareness High School: A Guide to Self Discovery and Mastery for Students, Teachers, and Parents" (published by Balboa Press), author Barbara Abbate gives young high school students a curriculum guide meant to lead them along the road to awareness. Each chapter gives the reader insights on how to become the master of their own education.

Abbate was inspired to write based on her own observations of the changing focus of the American education system while serving in classrooms for over 30 years. "I wrote this book to give students, teachers and parents some guidelines to empower young adults to take control of their own sense of self-discovery and learning," Abbate explains.

Filled with descriptions, activities and exercises that have been used by students throughout the United States, the guide supports young learners in their quest to discover and explore life for themselves.

"I want to empower young people to use some of the techniques to practice mindfulness, become centered in themselves, better understand their own innate talents and to discover ways to share their contributions with the world."

Abbate invites readers to share and learn about other opportunities along the road to awareness at her websites: awarenesshighschool.com and barbaraabbate.com.
