Twas the night before Christmas Eve, when all through the house Neapolitan cuisine was baking in Sophia Loren's house.
As Sophia prepared her rooms with tender love and care.
Her sprit was ablaze because her family was there.

And while the Ponti's slept all snug in the their beds,
Sophia was restless as tomorrow danced in her head.
She crept to her study not able to nap,
there she stumbled upon a box which gave her a zap.

She opened it up and the memories began to clatter,
Inside the old photos and letters made her heart pitter patter.
As Sophia gazed upon the links to her distant past,
She thought "Dare I revisit my history at last?"

Thus began the journey into Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow.
The tale of a young girl whose story wasn't quite free of sorrow.
Poverty and war greeted the girls early years.
Yet it's said the cost of beauty is many many tears.

Sofia found her escape in front of the lens.
Working for some of Italy's most powerful men.
From comic book siren to cinematic ingenue.
Sofia became Sophia and was ready to be seen.

Ponti fell in love with her within a few years.
De Sica got her the attention from all of her peers.
Quickly all of Italy began to know her name.
Then came more roles and international fame.

In came Grant then Sinatra
Then Gable then Sellers
Marriage Italian Style was a hit.
Two Women was stellar.

Chaplin made her a countess.
Brando got a whack.
As an actress Sophia was on cloud nine.
Privately she was a wreck.

She yearned to be a mother,
for many years she tried.
She lost two children in the process,
and oh' how she cried.

Then a miracle happened, a blessing
A very special gift.
Sophia was given two babies.
Which gave her spirit a much needed lift.

I don't want to give away too much.
This book is worth a read.
Sophia's storytelling is lush and honest.
Her stories finally being freed.

Sometimes the past is bittersweet,
remembering those loved and lost.
Sophia exposes her truth openly
Without the glitter and gloss.

With a career which spans 60 years,
there are a lot of yesterdays.
Today is always a special moment,
Tomorrow the hope for more days

As I closed the book I left a piece of my own heart on the page.
You cannot help but fall in love with Sophia Loren.
A vision from the golden age.
