More than 12 million patrons of Auckland Libraries - the largest library group in Australasia - can now access the libraries' resources which include more than 100 databases and over 3.5 million items such as physical books, ebooks, and e-audio books, anytime, anywhere from any mobile device. Auckland Libraries today announced the availability of its new customized Auckland Libraries-branded mobile app developed in partnership with Boopsie Inc., the leading mobile platform-as-a-service provider for libraries worldwide.

"More than 60% of Australians use their smartphones to stay informed through venues including magazine and newspaper portals, blogs and message boards, which may or may not be authoritative," said Tony Medrano, CEO of Boopsie. "By offering a new mobile app, Auckland Libraries can further promote information literacy and improve outcomes by providing the libraries' trusted services to citizens on any mobile device. At the same time, Auckland Libraries can achieve a greater return on their electronic resources investment by increasing circulation and usage among the growing number of mobile users throughout Australasia."

"Auckland Libraries' aspiration is to be our patrons' place of imagination, learning and connection," said Greg Morgan, Digital and Service Development Manager, Libraries and Information, Auckland Council, New Zealand. "With our new mobile app from Boopsie, we are able to cost-effectively extend our library services to patrons on mobile devices whenever and wherever they desire, which serves our diverse, highly mobile and dispersed population well."

Auckland Libraries' new mobile app is available to patrons at no cost. For more information download the new Auckland Libraries app or contact Boopsie.

About the Auckland Libraries
Auckland Libraries was formed as part of the amalgamation which established Auckland Council in November 2010. This brought together the public library systems of seven former councils, making Auckland Libraries the largest public library system in Australasia. Auckland Libraries now delivers its service through 55 community libraries from Wellsford in the north to Waiuku in the south. With the amalgamation, customers are now able to borrow and return items to any library in the network.
