PALM BEACH, Fla

Intrigued by how a person starting over can put together a new life, author Arlene Kurtis narrates a story of a woman who found the strength and the resolve to turn her personal tragedies into happiness. "Lila's Hamsa" (published by Xlibris) dramatizes this woman's quest to finding true love and herself in the process.

After fleeing a disastrous marriage, Lila arrived in the small town of St. George where she finds solace and a deep loving relationship in the new identity she creates for herself. There she found ideals she could believe in and the love that she yearned for. But the time would come when her past would overwhelm her present and the good luck charm's magic could no longer protect her.

Focusing on a young woman's journey to finding the right man and the right love, Kurtis' story, with its twists and turns, also highlights the positive effects of an organized religious community; how it can work for the common good and for the emotional health of the individual. "Many are grappling with religious identity, having left their religious practices behind," says Kurtis, "This is one example of how affiliation with a religious community can make a person feel more whole."

A well-woven story brought to life by one plucky heroine, this heart stopping tale of romance will delight readers who hope to turn their dark pasts into bright futures.
