Tony Mendez, author of Argo, is the featured speaker at the 23rd Annual One from the Heart Awards Breakfast which is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2013, 7:30-9:30 a.m., at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto, California.

Tony Mendez's book, Argo: How the CIA and Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History was adapted for the feature film directed by and starring Ben Affleck as Tony. The film Argo won three Oscars this year, including the coveted Best Picture award.

Tony and his wife, Jonna, are both retired CIA agents and they will tell the story of Argo at the One from the Heart Awards Breakfast, which benefits Pathways Hospice. They will share the details of how Tony, Chief of Disguise at the CIA, engineered and conducted an operation to rescue six American diplomats from Iran during the hostage crisis. This rescue involved creating an ostensible Hollywood film production company, complete with personnel, scripts, publicity, and real estate in LA.

In addition to the featured speaker, a highlight of the breakfast is the presentation of the One from the Heart Award to an individual who has made a significant contribution to hospice care in our community. Each year, this event attracts more than 600 corporate and community leaders, medical professionals, and friends of Pathways who support hospice and end-of-life care.

Individual seats are available as well as tables.
