"The Langston Saga" spans one hundred years as it melds two family's lives with history, recounting the story of the west, inspired by stories passed down from her great-grandparents.

Meet Charles Langston, Ben Dunn, and Ellie Sorenson, whose friendship lasts a lifetime. Charles and Ben fought with General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans, returning home with script awarding them a tract of land in Mississippi. They turned that wild land into a beautiful and productive plantation.

Charles and Ellie married and had a son, Charles Matthew, Jr. (Matt). Ben married a woman from New Orleans and they had a daughter named Megan. In due time, Megan and Matt married. Life was idyllic until the Civil War intervened to destroy an entire way of life.

Members of the Dunn and Langston families fought for American freedom from the earliest days of the nation. Their sons and daughters continued to step up to protect the land they tamed and called home. After the debilitating losses of the Civil War, Matt and Megan Langston moved their family to Texas to escape the inequities of reconstruction. But there they encountered new dangers: rustlers, thieves, and hostile Indians.

"This was a wonderful, thought provoking, nostalgic, well-written, hard-to-put-down book. It brought back memories of stories that my great-grandmother and my grandmother had told me. It reminded one of the incredible strength and endurance that women of that time frame and throughout history required of them. There was emotion and love without all the violence and sex found is so many novels. It could have been a book without end. I hope to see more books by this author." - Jo Gifford, Amazon reader

"Usually, I am not a historical fiction fan. I am certainly not a Texan, more like a born and bred Yankee. But, I LOVED this book. This is a beautifully written story about a family that I grew to care deeply about with each turn of the page. I laughed with them, cried with them, and felt sad when the story was over because I wanted more. Congratulations to Carolyn Boyd on a wonderful book that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great read!" - Eunice, Amazon reader
