About the Author
Dr. John Wamsley has spent most of his life saving Australia's biodiversity. In 1985, he opened Warrawong Sanctuary, which was surrounded by Australia's first fox and cat-proof fence. He went on to build 11 reserves across three states of Australia. He eventually fenced 100, 000 hectares of land to protect it from the feral animals such as cats and foxes. About a dozen species of mammals were saved from extinction by his work. In 2003 he was named the Australian Prime Minister's Environmentalist of the year.
