A VOW TO CHANGE is Released

LONDON - "It may not be possible to change people," said Mike Ike Chinwuba, "real change comes from within."

In "A Vow to Change" (published by Xlibris), he works to bring awareness about what is happening in many countries where he sees that their society is steeped in greed, anger and ignorance as the people only seek relative happiness by way of money, power and status. He then illustrates how the right mindset can be used to change things for the better.

Set in the aftermath of a civil war in Kafra, the book follows a young man's struggles as he and other survivors are left with nothing, but hopelessness and solitude; their world descended into one of indiscriminate hijackings, robbery, bribery, corruption and scams. Through many incidents and a great deal of hard work, he eventually finds himself in the United Kindom and a better life. On his return, he learns that the criminals have become very rich and powerful, his country's lawlessness holding down the honest and hardworking minority. Driven by anger to transform it, he realized that the Buddhist philosophy that he acquired during a chance meeting with a professor on a park bench in London was indispensable for change from within. He then embarks on a single-minded quest to initiate a revolution that transformed households, families, communities and, finally, his whole country.

In reading his novel, Chinwuba wants his readers to note that one man's single-minded determination and his taking positive action allowed him to achieve happiness not only for himself, but for many others as well. It is his hope that readers take this lesson to heart and become inspired to also make a positive change in their lives.

About the Author
Mike Ike Chinwuba lives and works in London. Originally from Nigeria, he graduated from a university in London with a master's degree. Having travelled extensively and experienced a great deal of life's tapestry, he has found in himself the power to inspire. His penultimate novel, "The Way of the Sun," which precedes his present novel, "A Vow to Change," marked his transition from writing theatre scripts to novels. He is a Buddhist and a member of Sokka Gakkai International - a Value Creation Organization. Chinwuba regularly gives lectures on Buddhism for World Peace. He works for the central government in the United Kingdom.
