LOS LUNAS, N.M.

In Mark 3:25, Jesus tells his followers, "If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand." Jesus' words ring in Author Rudy Lopez's ears when he thinks about the apparent division within Christianity. His new book, "A House Divided: The Scandal of Christendom" (published by iUniverse), addresses this division in the Church.

"The book addresses the multi-faceted problems of Christian division and why Christian division is contrary to the desires of Jesus that his church be one," Lopez says.

Lopez posits that only the historical Catholic Church fits the scriptural and historical imperatives required to sustain Christian unity - or, as Lopez says, "One Christ, one faith, one church."

"A House Divided" traces the history of the Catholic Church to prove Lopez's thesis that the Catholic Church is the most theologically correct denomination of Christianity. Lopez draws from his lifetime in the Church, as well as personal research, to craft this book.

An excerpt from "A House Divided":

"Witnessing the Body of Christ being torn and wounded by an ever-present and cancerous division was my motivation for this labor, along with an intense conviction that a divided Christian church, with its many and obvious pitfalls and contradictions, is inherently flawed and cannot therefore, accommodate the desire and prayer of our Lord that his followers be . . . perfected in unity (John 17: 23)."
