WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets Comes to Chicago

WAT-AAH!, one of the fastest-growing bottled water brands, announces the continuation of its groundbreaking art campaign, WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets. The initiative launched February 20th in support of the Partnership for a Healthier America's (PHA) "Drink Up" initiative, which encourages everyone to drink more water more often.

WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets art campaign connects today's leading street artists with the brand's mission to fight childhood obesity and promote healthy hydration among kids and teens. To date, 34 artists have participated in the Taking Back the Streets campaign. When it launched in NYC at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, PHA's honorary chair, First Lady Michelle Obama, visited the exhibit and was given a private tour by WAT-AAH!'s CEO and Founder, Rose Cameron. Each participating WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets artist creates a one-of-a kind WAT-AAH! label design featuring PHA's "Drink Up" drop as well as an original piece of art that becomes featured in the brand's traveling art campaign, which has been touring the country since February and arrives in Chicago July 18th at Moonlight Studios. At the end of the traveling art campaign, all of the artwork that was part of WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets will be auctioned off to benefit PHA.

WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets kicks off in Chicago the first week of July with the unveiling of a mural at a secret location in the City's West Loop neighborhood. The eye-catching, sky-high mural is being done by veteran Chicago artist POSE and five art students selected by University of Chicago's Arts Incubator Design Apprenticeship Program (DAP), as part of the brand's #WATAAHWALL series.

Following the unveiling of the #WATAAHWALL, the WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets art campaign will heat up with a series of hyper-local weekend events, which will assemble some of the nation's top, up-and-coming street artists, including POSE, Hebru Brantley, Icy & Sot, Jerkface, Fumero, URNEWYORK, Adam Dare, Palladino, John Paul O'Grodnick, Metro Zu, Kathryn Lynch, who join the likes of Kenny Scharf, Shepard Fairey, Swoon, HAZE, Lady Aiko and more.

Highlights of the WAT-AAH! Taking Back the Streets Chicago tour include:

  • Friday, July 18th - Private, invite-only VIP opening reception at Moonlight Studios (1446 W. Kinzie St.) featuring original works and specialty designed WAT-AAH! bottle labels from nearly three-dozen prominent street artists in addition to a special children's workshop with the DAP students prior to the reception.
  • Saturday, July 19th - Sunday, July 20th - Moonlight Studios Gallery opens to the public from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
