The National Portrait Gallery Presents PORTRAITS ALIVE!, 6/30-7/18 and 7/22-8/8
Spend your summer exploring portraiture and theater at the National Portrait Gallery with Portraits Alive!
Session 1: June 30 through July 18, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Session 2: July 22 through August 8, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Teens aged 14-16 are invited to apply for Portraits Alive!, a collaborative museum theater program based on people in the Portrait Gallery's collection. Performances come together through research, writing exercises, and workshops led by local theater professionals as well as Portrait Gallery staff. Participants also visit other Smithsonian museums to experience museum theater in action before performing their monologues for museum visitors during the last three days of each session.

Portraits Alive! Program Tours-Session 1 performances: July 16, 17 and 18 noon and 2 p.m.
Portraits Alive! Program Tours-Session 2 performances: August 6, 7 and 8 noon and 2 p.m.
Applicants will be notified of acceptance into the program by Monday, June 9.
Registration forms and fees are due by June 20. The $100 cost of this program is due upon acceptance. Payment should be via check or money order to National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution. The fee defrays some of the costs for costuming, dry-cleaning, workshops, and supplies.
