Photo Flash: Sneak Peek at RICHARD COMBES at Gallery Henoch
The Gallery Henoch presents Richard Combes on exhibit. Check out a sneak peek below!
Perhaps it's no surprise that Richard Combes trained as an architect before going on to study painting at the New York Academy of Art; his work demonstrates an intense, almost hyper-sensitive attention to architectural detail. Whether it's the wet concrete sidewalk in After the Thaw, (left) or the worn away marble floor of the Fifth Avenue Building(below), every surface in Combes's paintings has a unique and undeniable presence.
In these paintings, currently on view at Gallery Henoch, the feeling of augmented reality comes from Combes's play with perspective. Although in After the Thaw andUnion Square Reflections (below) Combes directs the viewer's attention to the ground, he cleverly creates the uncanny sensation of looking down and up at the same time.
