From June 13 through October 1, 2014, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York will present the exhibition Under the Same Sun: Art from Latin America Today, which, along with in-depth education programs and online learning tools, inaugurates the second phase of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative. Organized by Pablo Leon de la Barra, Guggenheim UBS MAP Curator, Latin America, the exhibition features contemporary works by 40 artists and collaborative duos representing 15 countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico (United States), Uruguay, and Venezuela. Following its presentation in New York, Under the Same Sun: Art from Latin America Today will travel to Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (MAM) and Museo Jumex in Mexico City. (more...)

The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' world-premiere musical Little Dancer, which runs from October 25, 2014 through November 30, 2014. The musical is inspired by Edgar Degas's renowned original wax statuette of a young ballerina, which caused a sensation when it was first shown at the 1881 impressionist exhibition in Paris and is one of the most popular works of art in the Gallery of Art's collection.
