Galerie Lelong has announced the recent completion of Jaume Plensa's LAURA, on view at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.

The newest addition to the Albright-Knox's outdoor campus is constructed using stacked marble slabs sealed with lead and depicts the colossal head of a young girl whose elongated features mirror the Classical structure of the 1905 Albright Building.

Laura is located on the north side of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York.

Plensa was recently awarded the 2012 National Sculpture Arts Award of Spain, organized by the Ministry of Culture. The award recognizes artists whose work represents outstanding and innovative contributions to Spanish cultural heritage. The jury recognized Plensa's "use of language as a means of reflection and his concern for the humanization of urban space," ideas that are central to the artist's many international public installations and scalptures.
