4th Annual Merging Media Conference Announces 12 Finalists of Pitch 360 Competition
VANCOUVER, BC - The 4th annual Merging Media Conference is pleased to announce the twelve finalists of the Pitch 360 Competition. New this year, and in keeping with the conference's 2013 GLOBAL EDITION, finalists include seven European cross-media companies with high potential for co-production or collaboration with Canada. The European participants will join five Canadian companies on November 7, 2013 to present their projects to an international panel of industry experts for a chance to win the Merging Media Pitch 360 $10,000 Development award. A second award, the Telus Optik TV Pitch 360 Prize, a $5,000 production grant for TELUS community television programming, will also be awarded at the Competition. Pitch 360 takes place during Merging Media (November 6-7, 2013), Canada's leading global conference focused on the business and creation of cross-media productions.
One of the seven European finalists includes 'Text Me,' a project by Victoria Mapplebeck and Andy Glynne of Mosaic Films (UK). 'Text Me' recently won the inaugural Merging Media Pixel Market Prize, presented by Merging Media at The Cross-Media Forum organized by Power to the Pixel, in London, UK October 15-17. The prize included the opportunity to pitch at Merging Media's Pitch 360 Competition in Vancouver.
"We are delighted to be the first Canadian Award included in the highly prestigious Cross-Media Forum this initiative and partnership with Power to the Pixel is part of our efforts to build co-production bridges between Canada and Europe," says Christine Lim-Labossière, Merging Media's Executive Director. "We have a total of four countries represented at Pitch 360 this year, and are very pleased to welcome the talented 'Text Me' team from the UK to our stage".
Merging Media 2013: GLOBAL EDITION brings together thought leaders from across Europe and North America in a power packed program of presentations, plenary sessions, bespoke B2B meetings, special screenings, networking sessions, and the popular Pitch 360 Competition.
