MacIntyre Dixon was originally cast as Mortimer, but tore his achilles tendon in rehearsal. Robert R. Oliver portrayed Mortimer for the first six weeks of the run.
The theatre interior was redone to look like the Sullivan Street Playhouse, where the original production ran. The interior was designed by Ed Wittstein, who designed the set for the original production.
The revival uses two props that were used in the original production: the silk drop with the title written in Harvey Schmidt's distinctive handwriting and the plywood disc on which the moon and sun are painted.
Originally set to open on August 16. The opening was pushed back to allow additional rehearsal time for the two replacements (Robert R. Oliver and Burke Moses).
