Second Generation Theatre kicks off its 4th season this month with VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play. Written by Christopher Durang, the hilarious Broadway sensation runs from tonight, January 22 through Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Lancaster Opera House.

Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, Pa., while their sister, Masha, has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret and the sudden possibility of escape.

"Being the first local company to pick-up Vanya and Sonia is both a thrill and an accomplishment," said Kristin Bentley, Second Generation Theatre's Executive Director. "It's a very moving show that takes a comical look at aging, self-esteem and sibling relationships. 'VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE' is the perfect excuse to escape the cold, laugh out loud, and enjoy the talents of both tenured and up-and-coming local performers."

VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE is directed by Doug Weyand and brought to life by six of Western New York's most accomplished actors and gifted newcomers: Lisa Ludwig (Masha), Louis Colaiacovo (Vanya), Kristen Tripp Kelley (Sonia), Charmagne Chi (Cassandra), Ricky Marchese (Spike) and Kelsey George Mogensen (Nina).
