Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) has announced the hiring of a third full-time staff member. In 2015, RLTP applied and was later awarded two-year funding from the Regional Economic Development Council through the New York State Council on the Arts' Workforce Investment Program. Once funding was awarded, the organization publicly posted for the hiring of an Associate Artistic Director full-time position. After a series of local and out-of-town interviews, a candidate was chosen. John Hurley, hailing from New York City, will join the team, filling position of Associate Artistic Director (summer 2016). With the addition of a third full-time staff member, RLTP will be able to further enhance its growing portfolio of new play development programming as well as address its overall operational growth needs.

John Hurley has been the Artistic Director of Impetuous Theater Group, CORE Theatre Co., and the Associate Artistic Director for Boomerang Theatre in New York City. He was one of nytheatre.com's "People of the Year" in 2012. He is originally from Idaho (but three generations of his family were born/raised in Buffalo). He has degrees in Theatre (Acting) and English (Creative Writing) from the University of Idaho, and did graduate work at Binghamton University (Theatre History) and Syracuse University (Directing). While at Syracuse, he was the Assistant Director of Tony Kushner's, Angels in America at Studio Arena in Buffalo. After college, he studied with Anne Bogart's SITI Company in Saratoga Springs and then moved to New York City in 1999 where he has been a director and producer of approximately 80 new "off-off" Broadway plays. The Lucretia Jones Mysteries by Mac Rogers transferred to the Bristol Valley Theater in Naples, NY. Other original plays which have been produced elsewhere include: King Kirby by Crystal Skillman and Fred Van Lente (about the life of Marvel Comic legend Jack Kirby), and 12th Night of the Living Dead by William Shakespeare (adapted by Brian Smallwood). He's had a slew of rent-paying "day jobs" from Wall Street to the medical industry. He is excited to join Road Less Traveled Productions and begin a new career in Buffalo, NY this summer.
