Vital Joint presents Tinker Toy, Pinker Boy, written and performed by G.J. Dowding, with sound design by Nathan Leigh and lighting design by Christina Tang, April 13-15, 2017.

"The MYSTYX witch stole
my soul
and planted it in an enchanted
glass bowl.
I am the root to this bowl
though I neither pickle
nor congeal.
My blood itches and my
insides marinate in purple vinegar."

Tinker Toy, Pinker Boy is an interactive spoken word song-cycle that flirts with the notion of self-mythology and often teeters on a tightrope toward surrealism.

"The MYSTYX witch launched
and assault on the rippling
water, disturbing the course of the
bobbing turtles and gulls.
She descended to blend with
water, with me.
Our beings began to merge."

Tinker Toy, Pinker Boy charms the human psyche into examining the boundless capacity of the soul, celebrating the tapestry of lives it covets in its endless odyssey of cyclical resurrection.

"The MYSTYX witch I need
no thought.
She needs no voice from me.
She is me me is she is she me is me she is...she is she
Tinker toy, pinker boy.
Bate me, bathe me, batch me, please."

Tinker Toy, Pinker Boy tests the boundaries between performance and humanity and how one may slide between them.
