Only Child Aerial Theatre is hosting UPROAR, a benefit speakeasy in the heart of Brooklyn on November 18, 2016.

With live music, aerial storytelling, and acrobatics, UPROAR is part performance salon and part fundraising gala for the NYC-based company. The evening will be a cozy place for guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and a one-of-a-kind performance lineup to support the growth of Only Child Aerial Theatre and upcoming performance opportunities.

For the last few years, Only Child Aerial Theatre has been making aerial theatre on a shoestring budget in NYC, workshopping their productions with the generous support of host spaces Circus Warehouse and The Muse Brooklyn in hopes of presenting at a mainstage venue. This season the company was selected to develop their newest piece, Story Hour, as part of the The New Victory LabWorks Program as well as present their full length production ASYLUM at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in Circus Now's CN:ICE festival. These projects are exciting milestones for the company, but they also require Only Child to suddenly triple its operating budget.

The 2015 Raleigh premiere of ASYLUM was described by the press as "astounding" (CVNC), "poetic artistry" (News & Observer), and "to be experienced, not seen" (Triangle Arts & Entertainment). Only Child is known for creating rich environments through the intersection of design, soundscape, and physical storytelling that allow theatre-goers to fully inhabit the world of the production. See www.onlychildaerialtheatre.com for videos and more.

Company founders Nicki Miller and Kendall Rileigh are launching their fundraising effort with a benefit celebration where guests can engage firsthand with Only Child's unique approach to multidisciplinary aerial performance. UPROAR's program promises a decadent cocktail of DIY authenticity and highbrow artistry.

The evening will celebrate the spectrum of aerial arts, from theatrical storytelling to acrobatic dance and cabaret, alongside a lineup of talented and soulful live musicians. The musical lineup includes: Only Child artists Dan Dauchy and Laura Sisskin Fernández plus friends John McGrew (of Apollo Run, The Village of Vale), and Ben Lieberman (of King Holiday, Diana Gordon). Aerial and acrobatics will be performed by Only Child artists Nicki Miller, Kendall Rileigh, Sloan Bradford, Ayla Weisz and Samantha Sterman, plus special guests David King, Eric Schmalenberger, Kelly Cooper, Shannon Sollars, Elizabeth Munn, and Paul Hawxhurst will offer additional entertainment throughout the evening.
