CPR - Center for Performance Research, an artist-driven organization co-founded by Jonah Bokaer Choreography and John Jasperse & Thin Man Dance, Inc. to support the development of new works in contemporary dance, will host the organization's annual benefit party on April 3, 2017 at the organization's Brooklyn home.

Proceeds from the evening will support the organization's Artist-in-Residence programs, both its subsidized rehearsal and technical residencies, and their supporting presentation opportunities. These programs offer multiple platforms from which artists can develop and launch new work. CPRs 1,845 sq ft theater features a LED lighting system; making it one the most technically advanced venues of its size within the five boroughs.

CPR's Artist-in-Residence program, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, serves as a platform for both emerging choreographers and established companies, providing an open environment for research and development of new dance work. An extension of the rehearsal residency, the Technical Residency addresses the need for advance technical support by providing New York City based artists with one week of unrestricted access to CPR's theater and technical resources without a commitment to present.

CPR offers a variety of presentation opportunities to its AIRs from works in progress showings, that provide feedback during the development process, to fully produced evening length work, such as the world premiere of for North (2016) by the Median Movement | Alex Springer & Xan Burley in December 2016.

Randall Bourscheidt is a Founding CPR Board Member and has diligently served the organization for the last 8 years. In addition, Mr. Bourscheidt is the founding director of the Archive of New York City Cultural Policy. Established in 2014, the Archive is a dynamic resource for planning the evolving cultural policy of New York City government, reflecting a partnership covering almost 150 years between the City and the nonprofit cultural organizations. Prior to the Archive, he served as President for The Alliance for the Arts in New York for twenty-two years (1989 - 2011). He was Deputy Commissioner of Cultural Affairs for New York City from 1981 to 1987, including a period as Acting Commissioner in 1982-83.

As the chief operating officer of the Department of Cultural Affairs, he played an active role in the nearly three-fold increase in New York City's arts budget in the 1980s. From 1995 to 1998, he was the Chairman of the New York City Advisory Commission for Cultural Affairs. It is with great honor that CPR hosts this year's benefit in tribute to his tireless work to uphold New York City's vibrant artistic community.

The evening will feature live performances by Jonah Bokaer Choreography, Kensaku Shinohara and James McGinn, a screening of Andy Warhol's Screen Test: Randy Bourscheidt [ST29 (1966), and dance party DJ'd by Larissa Velez-Jackson. Food and drinks will be catered by local Brooklyn eatery No. 7 Restaurant, Lagunitas, Thiénot, and Crop Organic Vodka.
