This summer the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is set to be transformed into a magician's playground when seven of the greatest magicians on the planet come together on the Concert Hall stage in The Illusionists, from 18 January 2013.

Get ready to be blown away by the biggest, boldest and most spectacular magic show ever to be staged in Queensland. The Illusionists is revolutionary, bringing the age old art of magic into the 21st Century.

The hand-picked international cast, including The Escapologist Andrew Basso, The Trickster Jeff Hobson, The Grand Illusionist Brett Daniels, The Inventor Kevin James, The Gentleman Mark Kalin, The Anti-Conjurer Dan Sperry and The Enchantress Jinger Leigh will transform any outdated notion of what a magic show is. These artists will come together to perform a powerful and heady mix of their most outrageous and unbelievable acts.

From never before seen illusions to jaw dropping acts of levitation and escapes, The Illusionists is cutting edge and contemporary. Don't expect rabbits and top hats, but do expect to be mesmerised by these grand masters of magic and illusion, each with their own specialty and mind-blowing signature act. The result is a brand new show packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions.

This group of world-class performers take their cue from the showmanship of the great illusionists of the past, such as Harry Houdini and pair it with a new and updated contemporary aesthetic; sets and costume design will lend the genre a theatricality and artistry not seen before.

The Grand Illusionist, Brett Daniels says that this production will present a rare opportunity for audiences of all ages to see grand masters of illusion at work in one spell-binding show.

"It is a privilege to be involved in The Illusionists, a show which unites these performers from around the world. They are at the very top of their game and the audience is going to be left speechless when they see some of the things these artists are able to achieve.

"Audiences will witness a nail-biting Russian roulette, jaw dropping acts of levitation, mind-reading, disappearance and escapes," said Daniels.

The Illusionists will also have a bespoke score composed by the LA-based band Z. Z who have previously been featured on the soundtrack for Man in the Mirror; a Michael Jackson tribute show, performed live on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show and The Late Show with David Letterman, as well as being the backing band for West Coast rappers like Nas and Kanye West.

Do not miss your chance to see seven of the best magicians in the world on the one stage in this unique collaboration, creating a whole new genre of spectacular entertainment the whole family will enjoy.
