Confluence Festival of India Brings Song and Dance to QPAC

Australia's biggest Indian festival, Confluence Festival of India, brings two works Sonam Kalra and The Sufi Gospel Project and Sriyah by Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in 2016.

Multiple award winning singer and composer Sonam Kalra will perform her unique brainchild, The Sufi Gospel Project in theConcert Hall, QPAC (reverse mode) on Tuesday 20 September 2016.

Blending the many voices of faith, through poetry, prayer and music The Sufi Gospel Project creates one universal voice of faith, and has earned Sonam international critical acclaim.

Sonam Kalra's beautiful and powerful voice has been heard all over the world, performing with the likes of Sir Bob Geldof. The Sufi Gospel Project is an amalgamation of everything that Sonam has learnt and believes in; spreading the message of equality.

The Cremorne Theatre, QPAC will welcome the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble on Saturday 1 October 2016, performing their work Sriyah.

Regarded as one of the foremost dance companies of India the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, trained in Odissi dance, bring ancient dance into a modern era.

Their exquisite work, Sriyah, showcases the vibrant costumes and the lively yet fluid movements, typical of the Odissi style, depicting an ornately carved Hindu temple springing to life.

Sriyah speaks of love and union between human and divine and aims to transport audiences to enchanted worlds.

The Nrityagram Dance Ensemble have performed all over the world, including in New York, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and across Europe.
