The city of São Paulo opens this week a original brazilian musical that honors the woman Elis Regina, famous Brazilian singer who made her career that was acclaimed throughout the country during the 60s, 70s and 80s. On March 12, 2014 the show was presented to the press at "Teatro Alfa", announcing its arrival in São Paulo (after the smash hit in the city of Rio de Janeiro last year). BWW crew was there to bring all about the show for you.

Elis Regina produced several works that were hits and are still seen as innovative for its time. With a distinctive voice, she was able to add a dramatic charge to their performances, one of its main characteristics, besides being one of the precursors of the reinvention of Bossa Nova and using rhythms such as "Samba" and "MPB" (Popular Brazilian Music) during her successful career.

The story highlights the life of a woman and mother who was Elis, excluding her last years of life, not even her death as a young women, at the age of 36 due to complications from an overdose of cocaine. His image is kept untouched as the director Dennis Carvalho said, it was his personal choice: " If we would bring up the subject of drugs, which happened only in the last year of her life, it would be another show and we should develop the subject to understand the reasons she had done it - said with assertiveness - Our purpose is to make a tribute to Brazilian music, not a biography".

The musical is the first of a trilogy developed by the company "Aventura Entretenimento" that will bring in the coming months originally brazilian musicals: one based on the life and success of the presenter "Chacrinha" and the other is an adaptation to stages of the movie "Se Eu Fosse Você". Asked about the expectations for the city of São Paulo, the executive director of production Aniela Jordan said that the city was so important to Elis as the musical will be to São Paulo. "When we left Rio de Janeiro, the theater owners did not understand why we were closing the show because we had full house every day, but the city - referring to São Paulo - was in our plans for a long time and I think this musical will be a hit here".

The producing has a track record on bringing Broadway shows to Brazil, being responsible for the musicals "Spring Awakening", "The Sound of Music", "Gypsy", "HAIR", "Fiddler on the Roof" among others, but only in 2012 the company stands with a new strategy by creating national products, as an example the successful "Rock in Rio - the Musical" with reproduction rights obtained by the Spanish company Wonderland Groupand that has yet to open in 2014 in the city of Madrid.

The season that begun march 14 will run until 2014, July 13 at "Teatro Alfa" - Street Bento Branco de Andrade Filho - with tickets that vary from R$40,00 to R$180,00 and are available at http://www.ingressorapido.com.br.
