Wheelock Family Theatre will present Once On This Island, Jr. on Friday August 12 6.30-7:30pm

Directed by Ilyse Robbins and John O'Neil, the Advanced Performance Intensive for youth ages 9 to 14 is a comprehensive "summer stock" experience. Once on this Island, Jr. is a musical adaptation of the popular fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" , a fantastical tale of love versus the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred, and death. ??

"Once On This Island" will be interpreted in American Sign Language by Elbert Joseph and Beth Peters.

Behind the Masks: Exploring the Great Masters of Comedy and Tragedy will be presented on Friday, August 12th, 8:00-9:00pm

Directed by Fran Weinberg, this intensive features an exciting range of both comedic and tragic scenes performed by teenage actors. The focus of the two week class has been on deepening ensemble and individual character development skills through working on wide variety of scenes from some of the most well regarded plays in history. Selections include scenes from Euripides's Helen, Moliere's Learned Ladies, Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, and Shaw's Arms and the Man.
