On March 6, 1770, four civilians lie dead, and eight more have been wounded by the King's soldiers. As tensions rise in the streets of Boston, Acting Governor Thomas Hutchinson faces an impossible choice. Blood on the Snow, by Patrick Gabridge, dramatizes the events immediately following the infamous Boston Massacre and is staged in the Council Chamber of the Old State House, the very room where the discussion took place nearly 250 years ago.

This site-specific play sold out its critically-acclaimed World Premiere in the spring of 2016. The Bostonian Society is mounting an encore presentation of Blood on the Snow in the summer of 2017.

"The questions raised by this work seem especially urgent right now," states Nathaniel Sheidley, Director of Public History for The Bostonian Society. "Audiences can feel the power of the room; the production brings urgent life to it and invites them to see the American founding in an entirely new light."

Experience a dramatic face-to-face encounter with one of the formative events of the American Revolution in the very room where it happened. In the aftermath of the Boston Massacre, the town's leaders desperately struggle to prevent more bloodshed. Their decision could save a city, or tear apart an empire.

Patrick Gabridge has written numerous plays, including Distant Neighbors, Fire on Earth, Flight, Constant State of Panic, Blinders, and Reading the Mind of God, which have been staged by theatres across the country. Gabridge is also the author of three novels, including Steering to Freedom: From Slave to Civil War Hero, released in 2016. He has been a playwriting fellow with Huntington Theatre Company and New Repertory Theatre, and is a current member of Boston's Rhombus Playwrights writers' group and the Dramatists Guild. Gabridge serves on the board of StageSource and the Theatre Community Benevolent Fund.

The Bostonian Society is dedicated to studying, and preserving Boston's uniquely important history, embodied in materials, records, and structures such as the Old State House, and in sharing an understanding of the revolutionary ideas born here.
