Cirque du Soleil is back in Boston with its big top production TOTEM, opening tonight for a limited engagement under the blue-and-yellow Big Top at the Marine Industrial Park.

Tickets for TOTEM can be purchased at any time online viawww.cirquedusoleil.com/totem or at the Cirque du Soleil box office, located inside the entrance tent at the Boston Marine Industrial Park. (Regular box office hours are from 2 hours prior to show time to 30 minutes after the beginning of the show from Wednesday through Sunday.)

Since its world-premiere in April 2010, TOTEM has been acclaimed by over 1.5 million people in 4 different countries: Canada, England, The Netherlands and the United States.

Written and directed by Robert Lepage, TOTEM traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations.

Inspired by many founding myths, TOTEM illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species.  Somewhere between science and legend TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.

Performance schedule
Wednesdays at 8pm; Thursdays through Saturdays at 4pm and 8pm; Sundays at 1pm and 5pm; and dark on Mondays. For more information, visit www.cirquedusoleil.com/totem.
