The box office is now open for the 2017 musical season at Bill Hanney's award-winning North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT). The five-show season will include THE MUSIC MAN, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, EVITA and 42nd STREET.

Strike up the band as the season kicks off in June celebrating the 60th anniversary of America's favorite musical, THE MUSIC MAN (June 6 - June 18). The timeless story of the fast-talking salesman, Harold Hill, who cons the good folks of River City, Iowa, into believing that he can teach their children to play in a marching band. This delicious slice of Americana will be directed by Bob Richard and choreographed by Diane Laurenson, the same team behind last season's breathtaking production of West Side Story.

The Summer continues with one of the most popular family musicals of all time, a brand-new production of Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (July 11 - July 30). This magical family musical is based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated film is filled with unforgettable characters, imaginative sets and costumes, and breath-taking production numbers. Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be directed by Michael Heitzman who helmed NSMT's previous productions of Shrek and Disney's The Little Mermaid. The show will be choreographed Lisa Shriver, by making her North Shore Music Theatre debut.

August will bring a hilariously inventive production of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN (August 15 - August 27), the musical from the creators of the record-breaking Broadway sensation The Producers. This wicked new musical is an inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks' 1974 comedy horror film masterpiece YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN will be brought to life by NSMT's Producing Artistic Director, Kevin P. Hill, who has directed and choreographed NSMT's previous productions of Mary Poppins, Sister Act, and the annual production of A Christmas Carol.

As the weather cools off, North Shore Music Theatre presents a sizzling production of the 1980 Tony Award-winner for best musical, EVITA (September 26 - October 8). This smash hit pop opera is the third and final collaboration between British musical theatre legends Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. At once both a saint and a villain, Eva Peron's dramatic, meteoric rise from poverty to prosperity is a groundbreaking - and heartbreaking - depiction of populism, politics and celebrity. Nick Kenkel returns to North Shore Music Theatre to direct and choreograph EVITA. His critically acclaimed work has been seen at NSMT in Dreamgirls, Chicago, Saturday Night Fever, and Legally Blonde.

The 2017 Musical Season will conclude with a tap-dancing musical extravaganza as only North Shore Music Theatre can produce, 42nd STREET (October 31 - November 12). Be transported all the glamour, spectacle and fashion of Broadway in the 1930s. The fun and infectious score features classic songs like "We're In the Money," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Shuffle Off to Buffalo," and the title number, "Forty-Second Street." Director and Choreographer Kelli Barclay will have audiences tapping their toes as she recreates Randy Skinner's Tony Award-nominated Broadway choreography.

North Shore Music Theatre will also continue its popular Kids Summer Musicals series. Shows will include The Three Little Pigs (June 16), Goldilocks and the Three Bears (July 21), Rapunzel. (July 28), The Frog Prince (August 18), and Seussical Jr. (August 25). All shows at 10am & 1pm and all tickets are $12.

Since opening in 1955, NSMT has become one of the most attended theatres in New England, with approximately 250,000 patrons annually. With a national and regional reputation for artistic achievement, NSMT has received numerous industry awards including Elliot Norton Awards, IRNE Awards, the Rosetta Le Noire Award from Actors' Equity, and the Moss Hart Award. NSMT produced the World Premiere of 'Memphis' in 2003, the show went on to win four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical. Under the new ownership of Bill Hanney since 2010, NSMT continues to annually produce a musical subscription series and an annual production of 'A Christmas Carol' along with celebrity concerts, children's programming and year-round education classes.
