Striving Artists Theatre Company will tour their production of Shakespeare's The Henriad - a funny, action-packed blend of four of the bard's most popular histories, directed by Artistic Director Gregory Luzitano and long time Striving Artists alum Jeremy Funke.

War and duty take their toll on family and friends alike in this classic tale of kings, warriors, drunks, and thieves, all struggling to live in an increasingly brutal world and increasingly uncertain times.

Twelve actors (and the more than 60 characters they inhabit) invite you to come "once more unto the breach, dear friends," as SAC embarks on its 8th summer of bringing free outdoor Shakespeare to the North and South Shores.

The ensemble cast includes Kate Devorak, Abigail Dickson, Amy Joy Laffin, Kellie Leavitt, Andy LeBlanc, Mark Logan, Vanessa Loret, Greg Luzitano, Laura Tarko, Ryan Travis, Demetra Tseckares, and Sherri Wilcauskas.

The Henriad will be performed in two parts, with the first on the Saturday of the weekend and the second on the Sunday. Join us for Part One to see Richard's fall, Henry IV's rise, and the Percy family rebellion, while Henry's son Hal drinks and thieves with his friends Falstaff, Bardolph, and others. In Part Two, you'll see Hal grow up to become Henry V, whose war with France gives us such famous lines as "The game's afoot" and "band of brothers".

Special double-bill on Sunday, August 6th, in which Part 1 will be presented at 2:00, with Part 2 at 5:00!

Performances are as follows:

  • Hale Farm in Beverly on July 22 (Part 1) and 23 (Part 2) - 4:00pm
  • Fall River Historical Society in Fall River on July 29 (Part 1) and 30 (Part 2) 4:00pm
  • Merrimack College in No. Andover August 4 (Part 1) and 5 (Part 2) - 7:30pm, August 6 - (Part 1) 2:00pm (Part 2) 5:00pm

All shows are FREE! Our first two weekends are outdoors, so please feel free to bring a blanket, chairs, and a picnic lunch to enjoy!

This program is supported in part by grants from the Fall River and Beverly Cultural Councils, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Striving Artists Theatre Company is a non-profit performing arts organization involving local artists, patrons, and students in enriching the community with innovative theatre, film and music.
