Franklin Performing Arts Company's annual Family Concert Series kicks off this weekend with "Sunday Afternoon Blues" on January 31 at 1 p.m. at THE BLACK BOX, 15 West Central Street, in downtown Franklin. The program features bassist Mark Poniatowski, with Bobby Gus on guitar, Ed Sheer on vocal and drums, Joe Bargar on vocal and piano, and Diane Blue on vocal and harmonic. An exploration of blues styles, this special concert is offered free to the public and is perfect for audiences of all ages.

A treasured FPAC tradition for more than two decades, Family Concert Series events are especially geared to children in length and format and provide young audiences with a fun introduction to the world of live music. Featuring talented, professional musicians in an engaging, entertaining, and interactive way, the program enables young audiences to enjoy a family-friendly presentation of this classic American art form. Audience participation is encouraged.

An Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, Mark Poniatowski has performed with Sid Caesar, Floyd Dixon, Janiva Magness, Rita Moreno, Bob Newhart, and Junior Watson. Performances include the Manchester Jazz and Blues Festival with the Toni Lynn Washington Band, the Boston Blues Festival with Joe Bargar and the Soul Providers, the Boston Globe Jazz Festival with the Bruce Katz Band, and The Music of Gershwin and Porter with Rebecca Parris and the Kenny Hadley Big Band. Poniatowski's recordings include "Two Sides" with Joe Bargar and the Soul Providers, "Mississippi Moan" with the Bruce Katz Band and "The George Carlin Show" soundtrack.
