On November 5 Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning regional theatre in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, celebrated Barrington Stage Company's smash-hit production of ON THE TOWN on Broadway and BSC's New Works Initiative with a second annual BSC in NYC Benefit at Broadway's Lyric Theatre, where ON THE TOWN is currently playing to rave reviews.

Over 150 patrons attended the Benefit which raised over $115,000 to benefit BSC's News Works Initiative. "We are thrilled to have been the originating theatre of this sensational revival," said BSC Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. "What a joy it is to see ON THE TOWN docked in its new home on Broadway!"
Co-chaired by BSC Board members Carole Burack and Board Vice-President Rosita Sarnoff, the evening began with a cocktail party in the Dress Circle of the Lyric Theatre, followed by a talk in the theater with BSC Associate Artists John Rando, Joshua Bergasse and Artistic Director Julianne Boyd about the remarkable journey of ON THE TOWN from the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage to Broadway's Lyric Theatre. They were joined by cast members Tony Yazbeck, Clyde Alves, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Elizabeth Stanley, and Alysha Umhress, who further talked about working in the Berkshires and the bonds they formed with each other there.

The Barrington Stage Company production of ON THE TOWN is directed by John Rando and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse and features from the 2013 Barrington Stage production, Tony Yazbeck, Clyde Alves, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Elizabeth Stanley, Alysha Umhress, Michael Rupert, Allison Guinn, and Chip Abbott. It is now playing at Broadway's historic Lyric Theatre, 213 West 42nd Street, NYC.

The BSC New Works Initiative was launched in 2012 with Mark St. Germain's world premiere Dr. Ruth, All the Way, now titledBecoming Dr. Ruth. The New Works Initiative is a vital Barrington Stage Company program that funds the creation of new plays and musicals. Over the years, BSC has moved nine of its original works to stages in New York City, including the award-winning productions The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Freud's Last Session and Becoming Dr. Ruth.
