Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab under the direction of William Finn, Musical Theatre Lab Artistic Producer, Julianne Boyd, Artistic Director, and Tristan Willson, Managing Director, presents the cabaret, Surviving the Avalanche: The Songs of Jeremy Desmon & Vadim Feichtner, for two performances - Saturday, June 11 at 8pm and Sunday, June 12 at 3pm at BSC Stage 2 (36 Linden Street, Pittsfield).

Vadim Feichtner, musical director of the BSC productions of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, The Memory Show, and this season's Mormons, Mothers and Monsters, is also a ridiculously talented composer. Together with lyricist Jeremy Desmon, they are two of the funniest and freshest songwriting teams working today. Their musical cabaret called Surviving the Avalanche proves no climb is easy-- love, sex, career, family holidays in Kansas -- but one thing is clear: when life keeps throwing rocks at you, the best thing to do is sing.

Surviving the Avalanche features Miguel Cervantes (American Idiot/BSC's Spelling Bee), Andrew Kober (HAIR/National Tour of Spelling Bee), Dana Steingold (Encores! Anyone Can Whistle/National Tour Spelling Bee), and Cassie Wooley (BSC's See Rocky City &Other Destinations/The Big V-Day Cabaret).

Tickets are $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday by calling 413-236-8888, at the Barrington Stage box office (30 Union Street), or online at www.barringtonstageco.org.

Surviving the Avalanche is a production of the Musical Theatre Lab which is sponsored in part by Elayne Bernstein and Sol Schwartz and an award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Jeremy Desmon received the prestigious Edward Kleban Award for Musical Theatre Bookwriting as well as a Jonathan Larson Fellowship from the Dramatists Guild for his work as a lyricist. Recent productions include The Girl in the Frame (Goodspeed Musicals, et al.), I See London, I See France: The Underwear Musical (New York Musical Theatre Festival), If You Give A Mouse A Cookie (Off-Broadway and on tour, TheatreworksUSA) and the web comedy series Man of the People: The Only Recently Discovered Secret Political Recordings of Acting Mayor Francis "Woody" Woodson (Head Writer/Executive Producer). He is also playwright of the new comedy 7½ Wondrous Act(s) of True Love. In addition, Jeremy's been entrusted with putting words (and lyrics) into the high-pitched voices of Elmo, Mickey Mouse, Curious George and countless other animated and/or furry characters, writing live stage shows for audiences around the world. None, so far, have been on ice. Jeremy is a graduate of Stanford University (BA) and NYU's Musical Theatre Writing Program at Tisch School of the Arts (MFA). Much to his mother's dismay, Jeremy does not in fact have his MBA. Yet.

Vadim Feichtner was most recently the Musical Director/Conductor/Dance Arranger for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Broadway, Boston, S.F., Chicago, and touring companies). As a composer he contributed music to William Finn's Songs of Innocence and Experience which received its premiere at Williams College. Vadim also wrote the incidental music for the NY Public Theatre's production of As You Like It in Central Park. Recordings include Elegies, Infinite Joy, I Sing!, RCA's Great Musicals, and the Grammy nominated ...Spelling Bee. Recent credits include Elegies (Lincoln Center Theater), Ordinary Days (Roundabout Theatre), Cam Jansen (Lambs Theatre), O. Henry's Lovers (Goodspeed), The Burnt Part Boys (Playwrights Horizons) and Party Come Here (Williamstown Theatre Festival). Upcoming: Broadway's new adaption of the film, Little Miss Sunshine. Vadim is an alumnus of Miami University and the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
