The production team also includes Joanne Farwell (scenic design), Saul Slezas (lighting designer), and Jan Kmiec (sound designer). The show is produced by Stephanie C. Mavrides in association with James Forbes Sheehan.

In Once On This Island, Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, Daniel, with whom she falls in love. Unbeknownst to Ti Moune, the pompous gods who preside over the island make a bet with one another over which is stronger, love or death, the stakes being Ti Moune's life. When she pursues Daniel, who has returned to his people, Ti Moune is shunned because of her lowly status. Her determination and capacity to love, though, is not enough to win Daniel's heart and Ti Moune pays the ultimate price; but the gods turn Ti Moune into a tree that grows so strong and so tall, it breaks the wall that separates the societies and ultimately unites them.
PERFORMANCES are Friday, May 30 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 and 7:30 pm, and Sunday, June 1 at 6:00 pm at the Umbrella Community Arts Center (40 Stow Street, Concord, MA). Tickets range from $15 to $20 and may be purchased online (www.ACTS1.org) or by calling 781-899-4467.
ABOUT ACTS: Since 1999, The Alexander Children's Theatre School (ACTS) has been producing several annual musicals, in addition to offering master classes and workshops with professional artists, weekly dance classes, special summer shows, and other educational opportunities. By combining the work of professional adults with that of students and volunteers, we can create an excellent learning experience for all. We believe that every young person can succeed in the theater if given the proper guidance, encouragement, and direction.
