Presented by the Boston Theater Critics Association (BTCA)*, the awards are named in honor of the late, distinguished Boston theater critic Elliot Norton, who for many years served on the selection committee, and who remained a very engaged supporter of theater, both locally and nationally, until his death in 2003 at age 100. Menino accepting The Elliot Norton Champion of the Performing Arts, with live performances by two of the nominated musicals, Lyric Stage Company of Boston'sAvenue Q and SpeakEasy Stage Company's Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson.

Two surprise dance tributes by Boston Youth Moves and The Manzari Brothers, introduced by Tappin' Thru Life star Maurice Hines, set the stage for the presentation of The 2013 Elliot Norton Lifetime Achievement Award to the legendary Chita Rivera.

The BTCA also presented a Special Citation to Actors' Equity Association (AEA), accepted by Melissa Robinette, AEA Eastern Regional Vice President, in celebration of Equity's 100 years of service and contributions to Boston theatre. For more information visit www.actorsequity.org.
