(4/18/2014) - The Hershey Community Chorus' spring concert, 'An Evening of Broadway', will be held Friday, May 2, 2014, at 7:30 pm at The Hershey Evangelical Free Church, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown. This concert is a collection of memorable Broadway favorites from the past and present and will showcase soloists and chorus accompanied by local musicians Steve Smith on piano, Mike Yinger on bass, and Tim Rupert on percussion. Special guest soloist for this concert will be Owen Richards, a student in the fifth grade at Derry Township School District and a member of the Hershey Elementary School Chorus.

(4/18/2014) - The Theater Project is no stranger to hot potato topics, having presented productions and readings of plays tackling marriage and income inequality, not to mention war and peace. TWO ROOMS by Lee Blessing examines a husband and wife separated by an act of political violence. The two rooms of the title are a windowless cubicle in Beirut where an American hostage is being held by Arab terrorists and a room in his home in the United States, which his wife has stripped of furniture so that, at least symbolically, she can share his ordeal. While he languishes in confinement, she does all she can to pressure the government to take action. The play will be presented as a script in hand performance at the Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker Street, at 2 PM, Saturday, May 3. Admission is free.

Oedipussy is adapted by Emma Rice and written by Carl Grose and Spymokey. This fusion of James Bond and Greek tragedy begins previews April 24, opens Friday, May 2 at 8 p.m, and closes Saturday, May 24. (4/18/2014) - Having made its debut Off-Broadway in 1990 and bowing on Broadway in 2004, Assassins is the creative musical telling of the lives of the most notorious killers of American presidents, as well as those who had varying degrees of success in their attempts at the life of a president. Now playing at PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, these bad guys include such famous names as John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald, as well as less well-known names as Leon Czolgosz (assassinator of President McKinley), and those who have gone down in history for their less-than-solid relationship with reality, Squeaky Fromme among them. The show's music and lyrics were written by Stephen Sondheim, accompanied by a book by John Weidman.

(4/18/2014) - Nineteen students from The Elisabeth Morrow School (EMS) won regional awards in the 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing competition. Each year, more than 250,000 art and writing pieces are submitted by seventh through twelfth grade students across the country, Canada, and U.S. schools abroad. EMS students won with three art and 16 writing submissions, and one of the four regional Gold Key award winners, Claire Fink of Cresskill, New Jersey, won a National Gold Medal for her personal essay/memoir Braving Fear. Historically, the national gold medal winners represent the top 1% of entries.

(4/18/2014) - Carnival Cruise Lines, the leader in family cruising, today unveiled Camp Ocean an exciting, new marine-themed children's program coming to its fleet of 24 "Fun Ships." Set to debut on Carnival Freedom on May 24, the expansive new program will immerse children ages 2-11 in the wonders of the sea through fun, engaging and educational experiences. More than 200 new ocean-inspired activities will range from educational games such as Sea Creature Discovery, Marine Life Trivia, Under the Sea Mad Libs and Ocean Artifacts Memory Tray to creative arts opportunities such as Design Your Own Aquarium, Make Your Own Sailboat, Sea Salt Art, and Create a Penguin from Oreos.

(4/18/2014) - The Life Time Foundation, the private operating foundation created by Life Time - The Healthy Way of Life CompanySM (NYSE:LTM), today announced that it will provide support to improve school lunch nutrition delivered to students at Minnetonka Public Schools' Minnewashta Elementary beginning in Fall 2014. Over the last three-years, the Foundation also has partnered with Minnetonka's Deephaven Elementary to do the same.

(4/18/2014) - Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced exciting casting for their Main Stage productions, along with a several special events for their 2014 Summer Season. On the Main Stage: Festival veterans including Nate Corddry, Holley Fain, Christopher Fitzgerald and Nancy Opel join the cast of June Moon, directed by Jessica Stone (July 2- 13); Justin Long returns to Williamstown, joining Renee Fleming in the World Premiere of Living on Love(July 16 - 26), and theater veterans Judy Kuhn, Howard McGillin, festival favorite Roger Rees, and more join Chita Rivera in the John Doyle-directed production of The Visit, with choreography by Graciela Daniele (July 31 - August 17).
