For anyone who might be in (or know someone in) the Boston area-here is some information about a GREAT show being presented for a very worthy cause.

Q-TAP (Quincy Theatre Arts Productions) presents The Rink with a book by Terrence McNally, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and music by John Kander, as a benefit for the Quincy High School Drama Club on Saturday May 30th at 8 pm . The production, taking place at Quincy High school , will be presented in conjunction with a multi item raffle and small pre-show reception, which all audience members are invited to attend. All proceeds go directly to the Quincy High School Drama Club.


The musical focuses on Anna, the owner of a dilapidated roller skating rink on the boardwalk of a decaying seaside resort, who has decided to sell it to developers. Complicating her plans is her prodigal daughter Angel, who returns to town seeking to reconnect with the people and places she long ago left behind. Through a series of flashbacks and revelations the two deal with their pasts in their attempt to reconcile and move on with their lives.


The Broadway production, directed by A. J. Antoon and choreographed by Graciela Daniele, opened on February 9, 1984 at the Martin Beck Theatre, where it ran for 204 performances and 29 previews. The cast included Liza Minnelli (as Angel), Chita Rivera (as Anna), Jason Alexander, Scott Ellis and Rob Marshall, among others. A London production opened in 1988, starring Josephine Blake and Diane Langton.


The Q-TAP production will be directed by Quincy High School drama teacher Paul Conroy, choreographed by Kyle C. Greene and have musical direction by Todd C. Gordon. Cast members include Janet Ferreri (as Anna), Brittany Rolfs (as Angel), Jim Ansart, David Carney, Tom Shoemaker, David Lucey, Tony Rossi, Stephen Pare and Jacqueline Pitts.
