Has anyone else ever had funny dreams about shows? I don't mean aspirations. Last night I dreamt that I was at the new production of "Hair" and the back of the stage at the Hirshfeld had been removed to simulate the "open" feeling that the show had in the park last summer. For some reason the Be-In number was done with the house lights turned all the way up, and Claude Bukowski wore shorts.
A while back I dreamt that I went with a number of friends to a midnight show of Xanadu, and we had to wait until 4 am for the show to start. When it started...the cast from Rocky Horror came on...and the audience was not very happy! Any other funny dreams out there?

I've had SO MANY, some embarrassing and some hilarious.

I had one dream where there was a small fire in my basement but I didn't want to tell my mother because I knew she'd get mad at me. Then Michael Ball (who, by the way, I'm kind of obsessed with) randomly came to my house and started eating some of our food and talking about some Les Miserables fanfiction he had been reading... with his mouth full. I was really excited because Michael Ball was in my house, but I couldn't enjoy it because I was worried about the fire in my house.

Another time, I dreamed that I was in a high school production of Phantom of the Opera, and the drama teacher said that the Phantom was going to be played by a girl because "no boys can sing that high." For the audition, we had to fly. I just started flying around the auditorium, and I remember thinking, "Hm, I didn't know I could do this!" I remember the libretto in the dream was bright yellow and had a basset hound on the cover!

Wow, I'm sure Freud would have had a field day with the implications of that one!

The Lost Boys were played by beefed-up chorus boys.

Glad to hear some other funny accounts....I also dreamt recently that I went to go see Shrek. 2 of the guys that I work with (who have no interest in acting) were in the chorus. I was so upset and confused that I was not in the show with them.

I was a sub rehearsal pianist/keyboardist for SHREK.
(And it was the time of my life.)

And in about two places I walked, about two groups were doing the stage version of Supercalifragilistic.. (and they were spelling it out too). Just as soon as they got to the final C-I-O-U-S, that's when it ended and I awoke trying not to go "HERE WE GO!" And I didn't, thank GOD, because I would have woken up my parents for no reason.

I think that nominations inspired a VERY wild dream last night. I dreamt the I was in some venue with a friend who I work with and Betty Buckley was performing a song from a new show in which she had been cast. After the performance there was a discussion with several people, one of whom was Patti LuPone who was actually very complimentary of Betty's vocal. I was serving some sort of dinner and kept dropping the silverware. However, I had magic powers and was able to pick up the knife that I dropped without bending over...after this we watched the cast of Next to Normal perform, but it was a scene that is not even in the show. In this scene Alice's character somehow sets the family's house on fire! I remember thinking how i saw the show in previews, and this "up in flames" scene had been added prior to the opening night, and that's how I had not seen it. How bizarre is that?!

I have a recurring dream of the Phantom chasing me around the halls of my old HS with a Grand Piano hoisted over his head. Sometimes Christine appears with a flute.

I seem to recall having a "let's put on a show" type of dream that had a very Mickey/Judy feel to it. There were Broadway people there but I don't remember who specifically.

I'm sure I've had others but nothing comes to mind at the moment.

I had this bizzare ass dream, that a friend and I had been cast in the revival of Pippin, as Leading Player (me) and Pippin (him).

Now, Michael Arden was pissed off that he wasn't Pippin, so he was doing all these vaudevillian stunts, like dropping sandbags on stage, and things, trying to kill my friend, so he could take over.

Sadly, one missed my friend and pelted Laura Benanti, who was playing Fastrada, and she had to go on leave. Her understudy, Harriet Harris then begins going on.

Now, part of the gimmick to this revival was that they were having a new Berthe each week. Cloris Leachman, Harvey Fierstein, Betty White, etc. Well, one week it was Bebe Neuwirth.

Apparently, Bebe and Harriet (in dream world at least) hate each other, and got in a huge fight, that resulted in Bebe locking Harriet in a closet and refusing to let her out.

So, the director informs me with 3 minutes to curtain, that I will be playing the role of Fastrada as well as Leading Player.

I woke up at that point.

I've had a few with Sara Ramirez in them. But, not theater related.

I think the one that was the most Broadway related one had to do with the Tony Awards. I just randomly had it one night. I was going to Radio City Music Hall for the event, and I was supposed to meet my sister there. I met her, but something weird was going on with my dress. I think it had to do with me wearing the wrong bra with it or something. So, I ditched her and went into the bathroom to fix it. Then somehow I ended up with people from work finding me, and telling me to get prepared for the wedding of two of them. I ended up being the flower girl. And it happened right before the awards show started. I think Sutton Foster was in the restroom or something. I vaguely remember her being there.

I remember having a dream where I went to see Next to Normal and the audience seating was similar to the three-level set on stage. I was in a seat on an upper level. I was trying to watch the show down below, but I was scared to death that I was going to fall. Very dangerous! haha.

Yeah, every time I think about that Michael-Ball-burning-house dream, I can't help but laugh, because I remember so vividly thinking, "AGH, WHY DID HE HAVE TO COME OVER WHEN THE HOUSE IS ON FIRE! Well... maybe putting out the fire can wait... a little bit longer."

I had this one dream that I was working on Annie Get Your Gun (the show I just finished) and this obnoxious transvestite freshman was playing Little Jake in my dream, and he was doing a scene where Little Jake got shot in the chest and was singing a duet with Sitting Bull, quite like A Little Fall of Rain from Les Miserables. I remember being mad that the transvestite kid got a whole song when he wasn't even that good and that I didn't.

Then, all of a sudden, we were in this really, really, really dark room with glow-in-the-dark sets, and we were practicing Annie Get Your Gun in there, but we could barely see. Everyone kept asking my director why we were practicing in there, and she said that the set designer had changed the sets. Everything was under-the-sea themed, kind of like The Little Mermaid, and all of the characters were changed to marine creatures. I remember Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants was there for some reason.

Then, all of a sudden, everyone stopped singing except for me, and the director, said, "Sh! The set designer is here!" And this lady comes out of the shadows, and I could see the outline of this really pretty lady with beautiful hair... but then she stepped into the glow of the set, and her eyes were glow-in-the-dark, and I could see she had hair growing on her lips. Not like a mustache, but on the actual lips themselves. Like, her lips were covered in animal fur. And she said, "Miss, do you disrespect Fur Lips?" in a really weird fake-sounding British accent like Marla Schaffel on the OBC of Jane Eyre on the OBC. And then I woke up.

I dreamed last night that I walked in in the middle of Hamilton, but it was a number I didn't recognize, a solo song for Jefferson. So basically my subconscious wrote and directed a new Hamilton number. And it was pretty damn good, if I do say so myself.

I also wrote a novel in another dream, when I wasn't even fully asleep. I wish there was some way I could harness this amazing creativity in my waking life. My subconscious is living my life better than I am.

I had a dream once that I had been cast in the title role in Hamilton, which is a bad idea for a few reasons, not the least of which is that I'm white. But I went out on stage anyway.  I performed so poorly that I was replaced mid-performance, but nobody had told me that so there were two Hamiltons for a little bit, performing in unison. I eventually figured it out and left the stage.

I had a dream once where I was  not in Hamilton, but somehow permitted to watch it from backstage. Both Lin Manuel  Miranda and Daveed Diggs acknowledged  my existence, end it was really cool. I woke up with Wait For It stuck in my head!

I went through a phase where I listened to A Weekend in the Country  so often that it invaded my dream had a very specific dream about watching actors rehearse the number under the direction of Sondheim. He insisted that the actor playing Frederick have a mustache. In the dream, I mostly watched The rehearsal and walked around humming the music while trying not to annoy anyone,  especially  not the composer.

I  Had a dream about a sort of immersive production of Sweeney Todd being staged in various parts of my house and backyard.   I had to walk around to watch the different parts. It was at night, and it was really creepy  and excellent.

Sometimes I don't even appear in my own dreams. I had a dream about Johanna and Anthony escaping  at the end of the show, but they were stopped on the street by the judge, who started screaming at them, and poor Johanna  was justifiably terrified, with Anthony trying to help her. when I woke up, I realizedthat not only is this an insane thing to dream about, it doesn't make sense because the judge is  dead by the time they escape. Nevertheless I quite enjoyed it.

Finally, I had a dream where they were showing a performance of the secret garden on PBS or something. It was that part at the beginning where someone says a few introductory words On a broadcast like that before the show starts. After he finished explaining, the lady disappeared behind a door implied to be the inside of the garden. I woke up with The Girl in the Valley stuck in my head end it was an extremely pleasant way to wake up.

They aren't particularly funny, but my Broadway show related dreams are always good ones. There are so many of them which are so specific that I think I might have a problem. At least this thread makes me feel like I'm not the only one

I had a dream a few months ago that I went to see Falsettos and Rick Astley was playing Mendel. He was very nice at the stage door, and I woke up disappointed that I didn't actually meet Rick Astley.

Some time last year, I had a dream that my mom and I decided to give Matilda a second chance, thinking we might enjoy it more with a different cast. Instead of the regular opening number, Jonathan Groff opened the show as King George and sang a completely different song. Unfortunately that's all I remember.

I once dreamt that I was at a performance of THE GREAT COMET and they had to stop the show for a solid hour.
