Wonder where he came up with 1984 for the last revival for Guys and Dolls? It was in 1992. I'm glad to read his good impressions as to what he saw, but after the producer did him the favor of letting him observe the rehearsal, it strikes me as unfair of this writer to attempt to review it.

I find it odd that a person who has, "worked in and around the theatre long enough to know that the show promises to be, despite what the critics might be posed to report" would think, "Most individuals would have cried bloody murder and threaten litigation. They would be well within their rights." I mean, doesn't this sort of thing happen quite often?

And I wonder which one had to give the producer the BJ when he says, "I with my charm and wile, and my sister-in-law with her moxie and chutzpah undeterred, ingratiated ourselves with a producer who feeling our anguish allowed us to stay for a dress-tech rehearsal."

PEACE.

And hello...if he's been "in and around the theatre" for that long, he should know better than to purchase a ticket for a first preview as they're often pushed back.

What a stupid and pretentious review. His affected tone of voice makes him sound like it's Miss Prissy Goes to the Thee-ah-tuh.

After this review has there been any doubt that tomorrow night's show might be pushed back too?

Check out this dud, I mean dude's, resume...he was a store manager at "Dappy's".

Is it me, or was there a critique of Faith Prince's vocals in G&D? I believe he was referring to her as an actress who:

"And while doing so Graham belts out a number without the phony artifice of a “character” voice. Absent is the acidy-nasal inflection that many actress' fall prey too. It is her voice we hear, authentic and sincere. It is an awfully nice voice too."

Does this imply we were not hearing Prince's true voice? We've been enjoying her nasally voice for decades.

This "reviewer" is a douchebag.

as ridiculous as it is for this pretentious creep to write about a rehearsal, why is it necessary to attack prince and lane in order to praise platt and graham. for the 1992 revival miss prince won every award, and mr. lane won the outer critics circle and drama desk awards, [he tied with gregory hines], as well as a tony nomination. they must have done something right.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course, but after the producer was kind enough (or foolish enough) to let this schmuck stay and watch rehearsal, I can't believe he/she had the tacky gall to kiss and tell so pompously the very next day.

Why are there video screens? I hope Des isn't going to ruin this like he did with "The Wiz." We don't need another "Toto Cam."

So, putting the fact that the guy is a total d-bag aside, I have read through it like four times, and I still can't figure out how the heck he feels about Ms. Graham...can anyone help me out?

He likes her voice and the fact that she doesn't use a nasal voice the way most actresses in this part do.
Got it?

I actually think the producers asked this guy to leak some positive stuff out there.

If he was threatening (or even saying the word) a law suit, I don't blame them. Kiss his butt and make it so he CAN'T say anything negative.

I don't know why this needs to be said every single time but there is a reason critics don't review during the preview. Both the performers and artistic team are developing the show and making changes/tweaking. For a show as big, that didn't get an out of town try-out, it's only courtesy that we allow the team to have time to develop to the best of their ability.

As someone that has been able to see moments of the show, I will not divulge my opinion on any of the performances but I can say that this revival is a much different then the previous revival in '92. The technical portion of the show will certainly be debated by critics and audiences.

As for the restoration of the theater, it's absolutely gorgeous. New EVERYTHING, seats, paint, carpet, bathroom, etc. Definitely worth checking out.

Dude...don't be an a-hole. This, this board we're on, this part of Broadway World DOT COM....THIS is THE place to review during tryouts. There are no more opening night reviews because of this and Talkin' Broadway etc.

Well, ick, that was one annoying review. You can tell the writer strolled away from the computer grinning to himself and thinking, "boy, what a clever and well-written review!" I liked the information I got from the review, though, especially that Oliver Platt and Lauren Graham both have nice voices.

What's all the fuss about?

It reads like one man's observation of what he witnessed.

Frankly, it's mostly good!

Move along, folks, there REALLY IS NOTHING to see here!

I never said the poster was a critic but I simply was saying that critics don't review shows during previews and other people should take the same courtesy. That's it.

Courtesy people, courtesy. Bash a show, love a show, just do it when it's a show. As for now, it's just a work in progress.
