Sharpie |
I bought a black one with me to Spamalot, but apparently the actors already had one when they walked out, so I didn't need it. Their's were black too, but it did show up on the blue, so it's okay. And good to know about the silver ones. Maybe I'll have to get one whenever I decide to go back for another show.

"Apperently, the entier cast of Phantom is given silver ones to use come stage door time. Only because that is the only color that will show up on that playbill and most people have the typical black one."
They do? Whenever I was at Phantom, the cast didn't have Sharpies of their own...any color. They used the ones the fans handed them. Most brought silver and were usually good about sharing with people who didn't have any pens because they hadn't planned on stagedooring.
At "Lestat," though, the woman in charge of the stage door usually had silver Sharpies for the cast to use.

I believe Howard McGillin (the curent Broadway Phantom) usually keeps a silver Sharpie in his pocket.
Anyways, yeah silver Sharpies are the best for Playbill signings. They look great on pretty much any black & white Playbill.
Also, funny story about silver Sharpies. When I went to see "Company" last year, I was the only one at the stage door with a silver Sharpie. Everyone else had black or blue ones. Everyone asked to borrow my marker, so when the actors came out of the stage door, we were literally tossing my Sharpie back & forth among us, LOL.

I am "the" authority on Sharpie....I have 26 colors at my Broadway backpack..
I will suggest a SILVER sharpie, though...it does not dry fast and it may run..

No matter what color you get, you're going to have to tell Stewart where to write. That should go over *really* big
I have heard that signatures from non-Black Sharpies (including the silver) fade more quickly than the black ones -- does anyone know whether that's true? And has anyone experienced fading from any color after prolonged exposure to sunlight?
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"

Well, I don't know how they'll hold up in ten years or so...but most of my stuff is signed in silver and, so far, it's fine. I have a couple of signed items that have been hanging on a wall in my house that gets a lot of sun...most are signed in silver and one is signed in green...and they're all fine.
I came home from Hugh Panaro's final Phantom performance with about five Sharpies, plus the one I'd brought. He didn't know whose Sharpie he had so he kept handing them to me. It was so crowded and chaotic that I thought he only did it twice...until I emptied out my purse back at my hotel room and found I had four silver Sharpies, a black one, and the one I'd brought.

On my Phantom playbill I got from the theatre, Howard and Jennifer signed in Black, the rest were in silver.
