Will anyone be going this week to MFL at the Carnival Center? My dad is playing in the pit and I called today and they're applying some sort of discount/rush. You show up 2 hours beforehand and depending on the available seat, get either a 10 or 20% discount (according to the box office). I'm not sure when I'll try to go, but I def. don't want to miss this!

OK, I got to go last night! I ended up being in Orchestra row H! Smack in the middle. All for $20. It was perfect!
I saw Dana DeLisa as Eliza. She was pretty good, I must say. I sort of wish I had gotten to see Lisa O'Hare (as I've heard great things about her) though. Dana was a little over the top in the beginning. I know Eliza is over the top in some aspects, but some of her performance seemed forced. She had a very nice voice.
The one person who stood out most was Tim Jerome as Alfred P. Doolittle. The audience ATE HIM UP. He was fantastic! So much energy. "With a Little Bit of Luck" and "Get Me to the Church on Time" were definitely highlights of the show.
It was also a thrill to get to see Walter Charles and Sally Ann Howes onstage as well. :)
The music was beautiful. It gets me everytime! Such an enjoyable production. The sets and costumes were gorgeous!

Sorry I missed your last posting. We were already en route to Miami (we live in Broward), so we didn't check out the pit. I was talking to my husband about it, though and told him that when our son is old enough to join us, we have to take him to the pit during intermission. That is a very fond memory I have with my dad.
I really enjoyed it the show- the cast was incredible.
I'm just curious... re: the musicians.... do they travel w/ the company or do local musicians play at each performance. Perhaps this is a silly question, but I was curious (and figured you would probably know ).
Not a silly question at all! Depending on the show, they'll either use their own full pit or incorporate some local guys with their traveling guys. My dad has played in about 5 or 6 of the tours for over a year now. He'll be doing the full month of Wicked's run in Ft. Lauderdale this March. As a matter of fact, the conductor for My Fair Lady has asked him if he'd like to travel with them for their northern cities. So my dad is pretty much local except for this case.
I don't think I'll get a chance to see Sweeney because I have to head back up to Orlando for school. Of course, they won't need local guys because the cast is the orchestra! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is also bringing their pit with them, so my dad wasn't able to nab that one.
Happy Holidays! :)

Thanks for the explanation! We will be sure to go down to the pit when we see Wicked in March .
Sweeney has the buy one ticket, get the other free offer going on (if you are still here and decide to go...and don't already have the offer, I can forward it to you).
