I heard she is the new standby for Elphaba in NY.

Anyone know anything about her?

Is she good?

I saw her in The Times They Are A Changin and the show was terrible, but I liked her voice. So not suprised that she is the new Elphaba standby, she should be able to pull it off.

Saw her tonight. Huge fan of her's, and she's an absolute sweetheart.

On top of all that, she's a brilliant talent and blows the roof off the Gershwin.

I sent you a PM theatertrash but i dont know if it worked...

Anyway, feel free to go into detail!

I am SUPER CURIOUS about this because I have a group of friends in NY right now visiting who went to Wicked tonight (meaning Wednesday). Is this the performance Lisa went in on?

They all told me they'd be heartbroken if they didn't get to see Julia. Judging by your post, they potentially WEREN'T so let down?

How does she do in comparison to other Elphabas? Strengths? Weaknesses?

DO TELL! :)

I am glad to hear her second show on went well, iluvtheatertrash. Her first time out was an absolute mess, so it's nice to hear she's stettling into the role.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

somethingwicked, Lisa has actually been on a few times; at least three full shows, and one replacing Julia right before "Defying Gravity." :)

I have been a HUGE fan of hers since I saw her in Aida several years ago. She is a brilliant talent and so nice. It's great she's getting a higher profile role. She deserves it!

A friend saw Wicked on 3/2 and when she showed me her playbill, it said that Lisa went on as Elphaba. She had no complaints and thought she did a very good job.

She was also amazing in The Woman in White. I saw her in Aida and she stole the show from Deborah Cox. Great performer and great person.

I have to tell you, being her biggest fan, it's so great to see her consistently getting work. She says enjoys standbying, but I think this will give her a higher profile to be in such a big show. And finally performing to sold-out crowds. Which is what she should be doing!

I was ecstatic to see her go on last night. She's very different than most Elphabas. She has a more quiet approach to the early scenes - almost so that she appears nervous, but more coming across in a delightfully nerdy way. And eventually, when she becomes "wicked" there is a quiet fury in her that builds until NO GOOD DEED - which was the best I have ever heard it sung. (I've seen Eden, Idina and Julia and heard all the others.) Maybe I'm a little biased, but last night was magnificent and people were going wild over her.

Judging by the people who screamed their heads off when she came out of the stage door, they seemed to really enjoy her performance. As they should have.

And she's been on at least 7 times now...

I didn't think it was 7. Wow.

Awww! I'm SO GLAD to hear she is doing well! I'm sure she's incredible in the part, and I'm glad Wicked fans are so receptive to her! I'm pretty ambivalent to Wicked (I like it ok), but I would be ecstatic to see Lisa in the role. I only wish I had gotten to see Times before it closed.

With Lisa AND Julia in the role, I'm finding it hard not to make return visits to Wicked, which I certainly would not do otherwise.

How funny... she went from Amneris to Elphaba

Didn't Idina Menzel do the exact same thing?

Both incredible roles!

Heard from a friend that Julia Murney is shooting an episode of Law and Order tomorrow and will not be performing Tuesday night's performance of Wicked. Cannot wait to see Lisa go on because I happen to have tickets for tomorrow. I hear she's fabulous!

Hopefully it's her and not one of the other understudies although I'm sure they are all powerhouses.

Ooh good luck to her if this is true! I would love to see it. Although she will always be Amneris to me.

Please PLEASE bring us a very detailed review. Everything Lisa does, I wanna know. Ok, so that sounds stalkerish but I mean onstage. re: LISA BRESCIA I know she'll be fabulous. I think this is the first time I've known she was going on before it happened, so I will definitely be thinking about her. Break a leg tonight, Lisa (supposedly).
