Got a little note and an autograph back from Andrew Rannells from when I wrote to Hamilton! Was starting to lose hope on this but glad I got it!

loliveve said: "Um, you should always include a self-addressed and stamped envelope if you are requesting a Playbill.  Not including that is pretty discourteous.  I mean, even sending cash means that an actor or stage manager is going to have to go out of his or her way to buy stamps and perhaps proper envelopes to send a Playbill.

I think, perhaps, the only time it is acceptable to send cash instead is for people who are writing from out side the United States who do not have a way to buy U.S. international stamps."

For the record, and this is a HIGHLY specific instance, but sending a SASE to "Wicked" for a cast signed Playbill actually seems to inconvenience them, as people report higher wait times in those instances than those who send just a letter.

It could just be a coincidence, but I wouldn't be surprised if they already have the envelopes ready for PB requests & using a supplied one requires more effort.

But, like I said, that's a very specific instance. In general, a SASE is always the way to go.

Hi all!

I'm curious as to any successes with the following shows? And if so, are they requesting a donation, and how much? Thank you! :)

Shows:

- "A View From The Bridge"

-"The Color Purple"

-"The Gin Game"

-"Hamilton" (Is it still $40 for BC/EFA?)

-"Colin Quinn: The New York Story"

-"Once Upon A Mattress"

-"These Paper Bullets"

Thanks again! :)

I was grateful and giddy to receive my Playbill from Sylvia last night in the mail signed by Ms. Ashford, Mr. Broderick, Ms. White, Mr. Sella and understudies Ms. Karpen and Mr. Carlin, especially since it's closing today. I had sent an SASE and thank you letter to the stage manager about a week-and-a-half ago explaining that I had loved the performance on the evening of November 1 but was unable to thank the cast at the stage door, since I was exhausted from having run the marathon that afternoon.

I am also awaiting Playbills that I sent to The King and I (Halloween matinee; lunch catered between shows), Hamilton (Halloween evening; Phillipa, my favourite, and Oak were the only cast members who didn't stage door; I am curious if the $40 BC/EFA donation still applies, but I would be happy to pay), Spring Awakening (November 2; still in pain and rushed home), and Fun Home (I missed Beth Malone and Michael Cerveris but was grateful to thank Ms. Skeggs, Ms. Kuhn, and the excellent kids).

Re: Thérèse Raquin, also closing today, I was able to thank the cast at the stage door and have my Playbill signed, but I heard that the theatre will forward mail :)

I paid $40 for a signed playbill from Hamilton back in October. I believe that the $40 donation to BCEFA applies all year long in most cases. I'd be interested to know if you ever hear back from King & I and Fun Home because I sent to them 7 months ago and never heard back.

Goldfinchmeadowlark, did you include a donation for Sylvia? I sent a request to them around the same time you did. Hopefully I'll get a nice surprise in the mailbox tomorrow!

Also, this past week I got responses from Dames at Sea (cast signed; no donation), Allegiance (unsigned; no donation), and Hand to God (cast signed by OBC; no donation). The only bummer was that my Hand to God Playbill got soaked some where along the way and sadly arrived ruined. I sent again and explained what happened. I'm hoping and preying it gets there in time.

gleek4114, I did not but will gladly donate to BC/EFA in gratitude. Is there a website/blog that lists which shows/casts require a BC/EFA donation? I tried to find an up-to-date list but only found blogs dating from when Newsies was still running.

atuomala, here's hoping! :)

atuomala: I received my Playbill signed by the principals of The King and I last night after having sent my Playbills the morning of December 28 as First Class Parcels with tracking. It was a little damp due to humidity in my hometown, but it was otherwise fine.

(I thought it was interesting and kind that the Sylvia production team/stage management had returned my Playbill signed in a plastic sleeve within my manila SASE.)

NewPhilosophy: Thank you for the link! :)

Heard back from Fiddler today. Received a full cast signed playbill. They even put it in a plastic sleeve. It took about 3 weeks

Does anyone know if Finding Neverland asks for a BCEFA donation for a cast signed playbill?

They don't. At least, not when I sent to them seven months ago.

Just got my Hairspray cast photo and poster back signed by Matthew Morrison Via Finding Neverland. Always risky sending them out cause they've been signed by alot of people- but this risky pulled through! only took 12 days too!

I got the same thing when I sent something out to Cheyenne Jackson from this address a while ago. I wonder if another Address works better.

I sent to MTC's Heisenberg last season at City Center and received a signed playbill in the mail, but I can't remember what address I used for that one.

atuomala: This morning, I received my Playbills from Hamilton and Allegiance with the signatures I requested -- Phillipa and Oak were the only cast members who didn't stagedoor after the Halloween performance, and I needed the rest of the cast beyond Lea Salonga and Catherine Ricafort (a childhood friend who recently left to do Disaster!) It took about four weeks.

Did you receive a cast signed playbill from Allegiance?

I sent my Playbill that Lea Salonga and Catherine had signed when I went to the November 5 preview performance, and I received it with the rest of the cast's signatures and a sweet thank you note from Catherine.

Didn't know that they did that sort of thing. I would be happy to and that would have made my day a lot if I received something in the mail like that.

I heard back from Kelli O'hara today. She wrote me a sweet personal note, referencing things I had said in my letter, and sent me a signed playbill. Class act.

Did anyone try for Lazarus? And is there even a point in trying to ask for a signed program now that its closed? I just got U.S. stamps today (I'm in Canada) and my letter & SASE would probably take about 7-10 days to get there...

Hi there!

I am sorry to say that it would be pointless at this point as I saw the only cast signed items, which weren't many, being put away for BC/EFA. I inquired if they were in fact for sale, but was told the limited items they had were already promised to specific groups/people. I'm very sorry. Who Have You Gotten Stuff Back From? But there's always hope for the *fingers crossed* Broadway/West End transfer! :)

Best regards,

Alek

Ah, bummer. Well at least I didn't use my stamps in vain! Ahaha

Thanks so much for the reply though! And yes, major fingers crossed for a transfer!

atuomala, I received my Fun Home Playbill yesterday morning signed by the remainder of the entire cast -- I had gotten Emily Skeggs, Judy Kuhn, Gabriella Pizzola, Alessandra Baldacchino, Zell Morrow Steele (my favorite!), and Oscar Williams in person when I went in November. Still waiting for Spring Awakening, but I figure it would be some time since it's closing today. (I sent these both at the end of December.)
