Yeah, so...everyone has known for a while that I was going to ask a friend of mine to homecoming...and today in theater arts, the girl sitting next to her mouths to me: ASK CARLY TO HOMECOMING! I was like...whatever, might as well get it over with... so I asked her, and she said yes.
I told a friend of hers later that I planned on going simply as friends--nothing more (well, other than best friends, I guess?).
Tonight at rehearsal for Singin' in The Rain, we were waiting to go on for finale--and a guy asked me, "What's up?" and I put my arm *jokingly* around a girl sitting next to me and said, "Just hanging out with my girlfriend." (Carly was standing behind me.)
I got a phone call from Carly tonight (a few minutes ago, actually) and she said she didn't want to go with me anymore so I could take my "girlfriend"...and I realized that she thought
*oh my god, she just called me...again...I'll update on that in a second*
that the girl who I jokingly said was my girlfriend--was actually my girlfriend. I explained to her that that was a joke, and then somehow we got on to the topic of our "relationship". I told her that I wanted to go as friends and she thought that we were going as more than just friends.
Carly: I wanted to go with you becuase I thought you wanted to go as more than friends. Parks: Carly, we aren't more than friends though... Carly: Well then why did you ask me?! I could have gotten asked by somebody who actually liked me! Parks: So do you not want to go anymore? Because I can find another date, believe me. Carly: I...I don't know. Let me call you back in like 5-10 minutes. *hangs up* *calls again* There was another phone conversation VERY similar to that one...and then she told me that she would tell me tomorrow. About 2 minutes ago, she called again and told me that she doesn't want to go with me because I "led her on" and that was a very unfriendly thing to do. I asked how I led her on...and all she could say was, "OK, Parks--I gotta go."
I hung up on her.
...I wonder who I'm gonna ask to homecoming now. Hopefully nobody else sees us as anything more than just friends.

There's a totally awesome students board here where a person can get all sorts of support about issues like being a gay teen, food in braces, and leading young women on even though we are gay!
Zits suck too. Aren't they the worst? And when you're singing in chorus and your voice cracks right as you start to sing the two words they let you sing solo? Awful!
Look Parks, you like her. She WANTED you to like her. But you kept on tossing the F word around. You blew it. No big deal. Live and learn - and you can probably still call her and say that you are sorry, and that you'd like to go with her and just see what happens.
He's not out? Oh, I just assumed he was out! I mean, looking at the pic coming out is academic anyway. Maybe he should go to homecoming alone and make it HomeComing Out! With that Diana Ross song. It. Would. Be. Fabulous.
I think I'm finally gonna just skip all the stupid hassel of asking someone, and finally just go with my best friend. I'm gonna nominate her for homecoming court too!
Go with a good friend Parks; you'll have way more fun!

“Parks: So do you not want to go anymore? Because I can find another date, believe me.’’
If you actually said that…you are the man. A lot of guys would have wussed out and been all “O don’t say that…blah blah.” You laid down what you feel, and that’s what you gotta do. I have found that the more I have come out, the more fun school dances have been. I can cut in any time I want, and with anyone I want. Hell even guys will dance with me, we won’t go into that here. Basically what you are doing is right and what girls do are wrong...they have cooties.
