I have 2 friends that recently finished internships there. They had mixed experiences,I think it really depends on the field you want to intern in.

I haven't been an intern there but I hear it has a lot to do with what field you go in. I had a friend who worked in development (I think...) and she liked the people she worked with.
However, I did WORK for Roundabout for a while and have to say that I feel that they don't treat people very well. At least the little people who work for them.
It's probably different in an intern environment. Just my two cents.

I'll toss in my 2 cents with serendpity's,differing only to say if intern's treatment is different,it is only in that it pays less(if anything).The Roundabout has a long history of treating its employees badly(yes,personal experience) & paying them as little as possible,all the while charging top ticket prices & with their top guys collecting huge paychecks($300,000 a year for one).

I strongly suggest you get your experience elsewhere(off broadway,possibly,or maybe Lincoln Center,a true not for profit organisation).

eta:I can easily second(pun almost not intended) priest's suggestion that follows mine-second stage is a more rough & tumble org.,but a good when where you will be respected.I know several people who have gone on to broadway from there.

I've looked around, and it looks like an internship at Second Stage Theatre off-Broadway is much more appealing.

It looks much more hands-on and they seem more enthusiastic.

For what it's worth, all the Second Stage folks I've ever met seem to be very nice people who enjoy their jobs -- most Roundabout people seem to be miserable.

I know this thread is old...but I figured I'd do a search before I asked about it.

I got an e-mail today, and Second Stage wants to interview me sometime next week for an internship.

Has anyone here done an internship with them that could give me any info? And does anyone know if it's a paid or non-paid internship program? Thanks.

Has anyone interned recently? I wanted to apply for Roundabout next summer. I'm a finance major with a marketing minor. I do marketing and development stuff for my college theater. Is it a pretty competitive program?
