I can't imagine War Paint is too expensive to run, but I think it's run its course. I think it will do well regionally.

Yikes, it is not going to be pretty for some of these struggling shows if they hang on in the fall. Specifically, Miss Saigon, War Paint, Groundhog Day, Bandstand, The Play That Goes Wrong, and A Doll's House Part 2.

I'll be curious to see Kinky Boots numbers for next week with Urie gone

Miss Saigon was at least always suppose to be a limited run. Whether or not it ends up making it to January 14th remains to be seen.

The great comet did not do that much worse without Ingrid last week. Well she only did one performance, but that's pretty much the entire week. I know this doesn't mean anything, especially now, but I wonder what would happen if the show stayed open (which I hope it does but based on everyone's responses in other threads it seems the end is coming) without any stars.

GHD's numbers hurt even more when you compare it to Anastasia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, two film-to-stage adaptations that were IMO far inferior as shows.

War Paint not that expensive to run?  With 2 divas pulling in star salaries I will bet it is 650-700 to break even.

That's painful for War Paint and Groundhog Day. Cameron Mackintosh has the money to run Miss Saigon to empty houses until January if he wants to. I think the tour will do quite well.

I'm not sure how much Charlie & the Chocolate Factory really counts as a film-to-stage adaptation considering that its main source material is the Roald Dahl novel (using songs from the Gene Wilder film doesn't count).

Yikes. The end is nearing for GHD, Bandstand, and War Paint. I think Saigon will hold on for a few more months at the very least. It pains me to see Bandstand's numbers, honestly one of the best shows of the season imo.

So happy to see Indecent end on such a high note!!!! Of course I'm sad about it closing but happy it was so well received!

But your average tourist/ticket buyer doesn't know that, so for purposes of ticket sales I think it can be tossed into that film-to-stage category.

I saw Bandstand again last Friday and it was completely full.  I'm not saying everyone paid full price or tickets were not comped but people were there.  It's a GREAT show, and I'm sad about those numbers.  Groundhog Day has been pretty consistent, but I hope they go up towards the end of the tourist season.  I don't think it will get better in the Fall, sadly.

Yikes at The Play That Goes Wrong..... saw it on a whim yesterday, definitely one of the funniest shows I've seen in a while. Sad it's not doing well

Really sad about BANDSTAND and THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG.

Two of the best shows I've ever seen that are hanging in there, but not thriving. Both should be monster hits but without a movie to base it off of and no huge stars, it's tough. I hope they keep running until they can't possibly go any longer.

Summers are hard to predict and anticipate.

I also think an untold story is how all the Amtrak/NJTransit construction/delays has scared off people from travelling into the city.  It's one reason I haven't ventured in myself to see something.  The few days I was free and had time, when I started checking the traffic and seeing the train schedule (since I'm coming from NJ) I quickly dropped that as an idea

"Bandstand" is likely cheaper to run than "WP" or "GHD."  But isn't it all about advance at this point?  Shows without stars or name (brand) value do not generally see an uptick in August. In September, the business can rebound or not.  I would guess "BS" needs to stay where it is, going no lower, but it's hanging on. I suspect Tuesday is a day we see some decisions reached.  I join those hoping "BS" sails on. My (surprise) favorite

Hope more producers are taking note, realizing that the two most successful new musicals this season are original shows and not based on movies (even though CFA is based on true events, still a brand new story that most haven't heard).
