Will & Grace Revival Renewed for Season 2 |
Watched one episode when it was originally on. Really see no reason for a revival.
I hate that they are just ignoring the series finale. It's a slap in the face to the fans (even if it was a terrible, terrible finale).
This will be fun! I had hoped that Shelley Morrison would make an appearance as "Rosario". Apparently the producers wanted her, but she declined. She is now retired at age 80.

There are a few shows that I wish would do the same; Cough Dexter Cough.
I love the show, eager to see it come back but I wonder what's left for them to do with this show. NBC's only hit show right now is THIS IS US. And when was the last time they've had a hit sitcom? This smells of desperation for NBC just to get ratings.

Of course they just want ratings. Isn't that what all channels want?

I love that they are ignoring it! Like you say, it was terrible.
Maybe they'll make some reference to it and somehow explain it away.

I see no one on this forum took the time to read the recent Entertainment Weekly article about this re-boot.
The creators felt that they were going going to ignore the series finale because when it was written they had absolutely no ides they were going to revive it 11 years later. They were writing at the time for a show that was ending.
Now it's back and they have too re-do things. big fvcking deal...get over it. It is what it is.No one is forcing anyone to watch it....oh and by the way it got renewed for another season and it hasn't even aired yet!!!
SO THERE.
It's funny. I just read the Entertainment Weekly article. I'm not sure if I remember watching the series finale. Having Will & Grace not speak for 20 years was as stupid as Mary & Rhoda not speaking for just as long. The way those characters were written in both shows, just makes those situations not realistic, even for a sitcom.

I couldn't agree more. The writers did not give the fans a finale they deserved. With that said, it feels weird to pretend that the finale didn't happen at all. Does that mean we're pretending that their relationships with their respective men didn't happen? Is Stanley dead? How are they dealing with the absence of Rosario?! I have so many questions!

I never like these attempts to revive an old tv show ( yes even if only 11 yrs ago) . So much exploitation of a nostalgic fan base. Take all the metaphors you want-. milking a cow til it's dry, drawing from a well till all you get is mud.
They did a revival of Ab Fab some time after on the BBC. ( and Agony) Faded glory doesn't even begin.
You start to wonder if there was anything there to begin with.
But I get it - it's show BUSINESS and if there is a chance it can make $$$$ now forget about any other iteration and go for the bucks while u can.
( ps Rosario was my fav so I would't watch anyways)
I'm looking forward to it and I don't even remember the finale. I enjoyed the short they did for the 2016 election, so I guess I'm the target audience for this. Someone who prefers the nostalgia of an old favorite over most of the comedies on offer. It's not like we're being over-saturated with a sitcom golden age renaissance or anything. Luckily, it's not Two and a Half Men.

Awesome! I have a feeling that he will pull in a younger theatre audience who were unfamiliar with the show when it first aired.

Not sure what role he's playing, but age-wise, he's just about right to play Jack's son. Hmmmm.
^There's no reason they can't use Michael Angarano, who played Elliot originally.
