I thought I would never post one of these threads, but I don't want to blow my one chance to see a show this year.

Between Miss Saigon, Bandstand, Groundhog Day, Wicked, and Come From Away, what would you recommend most?

Strong opinions appreciated!

Groundhog Day! It likely won't stick around long so you won't be able to pick it up next time.

Come From Away is a very, very close second.

Come From Away is my favorite of those by far, but it should be around a while so if you will get to see another show down the road you'd still have a chance.

Groundhog Day would be my 2nd choice out of those but since I don't think it will last past the summer, don't miss it!

You can't go wrong with Groundhog Day, Miss Saigon, or Come from Away (though I'd definitely vote for the first).

I'm a huge Wicked fan, but I promise it'll still be around during your next trip.

Bandstand! It won't be around for very long, but the cast and show are beautiful and promote a very strong message.

I'm really in love with Groundhog Day right now, and it's (sadly) unlikely to be around in a year, so that's definitely my pick. I've heard good things about Bandstand, but it's also unlikely to be around.

Wicked will be around forever, and also seems to tour a lot.

As long as you enjoy it, how can you blow it? I've seen all the shows you listed except for Bandstand. I would think any of them would be pleasing.

What are your favorite sgows? Least favorite? That tells more doe advuce than our favorites. Its also hard to directly compare them

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I'll echo the prevailing sentiment. Come from away will be around for a while (although it would be good to see with Jen). GHD isn't looking too financially healthy, but it's a fun show, Andy Karl is giving a wonderful performance, and given the technical use of turntables, I don't see it touring in nearly its current form (if ever). It's a pretty joyous show that always puts a smile on my face.

If you haven't seen it, i'd also recommend the great comet. Another show that will not be seen in its current scale once it closes on Broadway

I don't think Groundhog Day will be around for long. And Miss Saigon will be closing January 2018. So, I think you should see Groundhog Day.

I would strongly recommend Bandstand. I can't imagine it will be around for too much longer and it's a really special show.

I highly recommend Miss Saigon. It is a wonderful production with an incredible cast. You will love every minute of it. I was blown away by it when I saw it in June. It's also a limited run, so this might be your only chance to see it on Broadway.

Miss Saigon is terrible, and it's built to tour, so it will likely tour next season. Bandstand is "eh." "Come From Away" Is great, but unless you're trying to see a certain cast member, it will likely be around for awhile and tour. I'd vote "Groundhog Day." I've seen it twice and love it, and Andy Karl is to be seen. And I can't imagine it will tour in its current state.

Come From Away. It wasn't my favorite, but most people adore it.

Don't go see Groundhog Day (godawful aside from a nice performance by Andy Karl), Bandstand is vanilla and bland, Miss Saigon is good and the cast is wonderful, but it will probably tour, and Wicked tours all the time.

I would also like to recommend The Great Comet, provided that it will still be open when you visit. It's the most stunning production that I have ever seen and it's always worth checking out the tickets for Dear Evan Hansen. It's a beautiful show.

I loved Groundhog Day and it seems likely that it won't last much longer, so this would be my first choice.

I enjoyed Come From Away even more than Groundhog Day, but it will likely be around for a while longer and may also tour. The only caveat to this one is you'd be seeing the original cast, which is brilliant.

Miss Saigon is set to close by the end of the year and the current cast is mostly quite good. It's a spectacular production with a heart-wrenching story and I believe it will also tour, but the quality of the touring cast is an unknown at this time.

I've not seen Bandstand because the swing genre is not really my cup of tea. However, a fair number of folks on this board love it, so much so that I'm considering checking it out anyway.

Wicked isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It will being playing in New York (and likely London as well) for years to come, and it also tours often. I saw the London production several years ago and thought it was wonderful, but I'd put it at the bottom of the list because there's definitely no urgency here.

COME. FROM. AWAY. A masterpiece in theatre. Certaintly not a "traditional" musical, but worth seeing

Bandstand. I've seen all of the mentioned productions and Wicked/CFA will likely be around for a while so you could have more chances to see them (Rodney has finished so the OBC argument is not valid anymore sadly). Bandstand is an incredible gem and was absolutely overlooked at the Tony's. You also have good chances to score tickets at a reasonable price.

I was not impressed with Bandstand. And it's a show that could easily tour. I did not think it was anything special, and I really wanted to love it.

While I didn't love GHD-I did think Andy Karl was phenomenal and the staging great.

Yes Rodney may not be in Great Comet, but Jen Colella still is and she is worth seeing.

I loved Groundhog Day and Come From Away...though the latter will probably be open longer as has been stated. So another BIG yes to GD.

I thought Bandstand was pleasant but I wouldn't feel the need to run there.

There are many different feelings about Miss Saigon from love to hate so I wouldn't recommend it not knowing you personally. But I was in the love category, in spite of its flaws. It's still terribly moving.

I enjoyed Great Comet as an experience (even though you didn't ask but others commented first) but I would go to any of your choices before this one.

I saw the 10 minute clip online, and found it hysterical, and was wondering if that transfers into 2 full hours.

The ten minutes are the funniest parts in my view, but then I've seen it twice, and I'm in the minority in not finding it very funny. If you want slapstick, go watch some three stooges.
