Seth was just talking about James Marsden on his SiriusXM show, before playing James' Ultra Clutch jingle song from Hairsrpay the Movie. Seth was wondering why James hasn't been on Broadway. (Well, I thought, he WAS on Broadway, literally, while filming Enchanted LOL)

But got me thinking, he's an appealing guy and why not get on the boards. I was thinking Billy Flynn, or Fiyero though he's probably too old now for the latter (although I've always been fine with older guys playing Fiyero, since it's an alternate universe and he's perpetually thrown out of schools, so he'd likely be older than than other Shiz students). And as much as I was underwhelmed by Groundhog Day, I could see him take over Phil once Andy leaves (if the show continues).

Any other roles he might play?

I've always thought he would make a great Harold hill in a music man revival

Especially the scenes when he's in the tshirt and striped boxers. Just sayin' :) Might get me to return to the August Wilson.

I really think he is undervalued, probably one of those cases of being too handsome, a little short, and not having that perfect role to go to the next level.  Here goes for Broadway:

 -- The Pajama Game

-- Damn Yankees (a youngish, sexy Applegate)

-- This is a show that will NEVER be revived, but The Boy From Oz

-- Ben Stone in a younger than usual casting of Follies (of course, by the time it is revived again, he may be too old for an age appropriate Ben

-- Sky Masterson

-- Male lead in a Kelli O'Hara revival of a revised Bells Are Ringing (that score is great).  I think they would be great together.

-- I don't know if his voice has the stamina, but Kiss Me Kate and Company

-- Will Rogers Follies

-- Agree re Billy Flynn

-- Agree re The Music Man

-- Henrik Egermann (sic) in ALNM

-- Either Stone or Stine
