Justice Department Argues Landmark Civil Rights Law Doesn’t Protect Gay People |
Posted: 7/27/17 at 8:59am
They're trying to chip away at our civil rights, bit by bit under the guise of "religious freedom."
My name is neither "adam" nor "greer."

You won't hear from them. This is indefensible.
They were moronic enough to fall for his BS rhetoric last year, so they should hide their shame, keep their mouths shut for the next 3.5 years, and then fix this in 2020.

I have a feeling behind closed doors there are discussing how to get rid of gay marriage. You can't tell me Vice "Conversion Therapy" President Pence doesn't have that written down somewhere. People are scared of Trump but Pence truly frightens me.

Trump is a unique threat to the world, and much, much worse than Pence.
Pence can do - and is probably more likely to do - some terrible things in terms of policy, including reversing LGBT rights. We would then have to fight back and undo all the bad things he did.
Trump is a thin-skinned maniac in charge of a huge army and arsenal of nuclear weapons. He can destroy the world, or at least permanently destroy our way of life. I don't think this can be said of Pence.
During the election, prominent Democrats stated that Trump was a special threat, not just someone they disagreed with on policy. I agreed with them. Now, I hear a lot of Democrats claiming that Pence - and by extension any conservative Republican - is an existential threat. It seems like a little bit of a betrayal, to be honest.

"Would love to hear from the Gay Trump Voters on this one."
Don't hold your breath. The gay Trump voters on this board (BroadwayConcierge) suddenly don't like talking about politics. Maybe ask him next time when he posts on the main board.

Hate is back in fashion. There's no meaningful defense. Trump is crumbling under the weight of his own inadequacy and is lashing out at anyone and who refuses to kiss his feet.

It's odd, but I'm comforted by Trump in a way I wouldn't be with President Pence.
Don't get me wrong, he's an embarrassment and a danger and I truly despise him on a level I didn't think was possible.
But he's so ineffective. Not only can't he govern, he alienates members of his administration on a daily basis not to mention members of Congress. He wants to enact horrific policies and legislation, but can not keep his mouth shut long enough to make any of it a reality.
Pence knows how to govern and effectively legislate the same horrific policies. For now, I think I want Trump.

LYLS I agree with Kdogg on this one.

How about this: we endure Trump until the midterms, then gain control of the House. Then, Trump can get be impeached, and a Dem House would render Pence useless until 2020, when President Kamala Harris is elected.

He wants to enact horrific policies and legislation, but can not keep his mouth shut long enough to make any of it a reality.
And it's that mouth that will put us all in danger. He speaks with complete abandon without any forethought given to fact or consequence. On an international scale, it's like hovering your finger over the button at all times.

I'm in no way trying to downplay the danger he poses on the world's stage. I agree 100%. He poses a threat never before seen in this country's history.
For me, I'm trying to focus on something positive about this mess-- he is the most ineffective president since James Buchanan and that's a good thing.
