Is "Making Good" from Wicked a Good Audition Song?

Hello everybody,

I'm going into my junior year of high school and I'm starting to prepare for college auditions, as well as the "normal" auditions for our spring musical. I'm planning to apply to ultra-competitive musical theatre programs (wish me luck haha), and I was wondering if "Making Good" from Wicked would be a good selection for an audition song.

I know that Wicked is an extremely successful musical and that it is overdone for almost any audition, but the song I am referring to was cut in the early stages of the musical and replaced with "The Wizard and I". It's sung by Stephanie J. Block on the OBC recording. I know that the chances of any Wicked song being unknown are slim to none, so I was just wondering if this song is obscure enough to make it a good audition song and make a good impression for auditions.

Thank you!

No. nothing from Wicked is ever a good choice for auditions ever, unless they SPECIFICALLY ask you to sing a selection from Wicked. Look at the college's website and they will usually have a "do not sing" list. Look at it carefully and treat it like the 10 commandments.

And girl, you're only a junior. You have so much time. Don't worry about what you're going to sing yet. Start researching where you want to apply. I would say that making a list of 20, and then narrowing it down to 10 by the end of your junior year. You don't want to audition for more than 10 schools, trust me. I auditioned for 13 and it nearly killed me
